Interesting this, because I met a man in Tampa who told me that his
grandfather had been on the dock looking at the Maine when the explosion
occurred.  He was only about l5 or l6 at that time.  He had always told his
family that the explosion was from within the ship.  I talked with his
descendent in l970.  I guess we would be better off listening to curious
teenagers than our Naval officers.  Prudy
