What you are saying is correct. If we make the rules, EVERYONE should held
to those rules. But, unfortunately, we are dealing with big government
interests, that use laws to protect themselves when it is convenient. It is
a fact that the drug laws get the small guys off the streets, while the 'big
boys' reap the billions.
When there are laws that do not protect juveniles, parents must make it
clear to their children that EVERY move they make can have resounding
effects that impact their adult lives. Since I grew up in the drug ravaged
'60's, my mother constantly reminded me that doing drugs would affect my
future. It was this fear of 'no future' that kept me from experimenting
like many of the teenagers around me. As I begin to see early deaths in my
friends, I realized that my mother was correct. I am glad that she spoke
out early, and nagged continuously. Without the constant reminders, I would
certainly not be as successful as I am now.
