But the man was turned away, said public defender David Powers, after doctors decided he was neither a danger to himself nor to others. Powers is representing Larry Dame, 28, in the Oct. 20 slayings of Dame's sister, her husband and their three children, ages 1, 9 and 12. He said Friday that Mercy Hospital, near Minneapolis, had decided Dame did not meet the only criteria for medical necessity - that he was dangerous. Prosecutors said earlier that Dame's brother-in-law had taken him to the hospital after Dame was released from jail Oct. 19.
