I knew there had to be a good reason. An adolescent plunge into genealogy
showed me that my family was descended from Charles II, but I was rather
upset to hear he was a "syphletic idiot." We now seem to be free of the
syphlis, but I'm sorry that I didn't think to go into politics. Lots of my
