Clinton is not responsible for the economy, Greenspan is the one person
most responsible for the economy. This "booming economy" is booming for
those wealthy enough to be in the top 10% or so on the economic scale, those
of us less fortunate are actually loosing buying power. The reason the GNP
is growing is because the rich are getting richer, not because poorer folks
are making a better living as the clinton bunch would like you to think,
finding facts about that is very easy ...
Why do I think there isn't a budget surplus ... simply because there isn't.
All you have to do is add and subtract to figure it out. For the last three
years Clinton and Congress have been patting themselves on the back and
saying "what will we do with the budget surplus." There is no budget
surplus, the theives in government just fleeced us of more money than they
planned. Then they want us to be ignorant enough to believe that they have a
right to spend this money on their favorite cash cows. Look at the supposed
surplus like this ... now if we had a surplus that means the national debt
should have gotten smaller, or at least, remained unchanged. Here are the
figures straight from the treasury Dept. at

1997 $5.413 trillion
1998 $5.526 trillion
1999 $5.656 trillion
2000 $5.674 trillion (fiscal)
That tells me we didn't have a "balanced budget" nor did we have any budget
surplus.
Now the tactics Clinton and the rest of the government use to make the
appearance of budget windfalls are complicated and involves a hell of a lot
of disinformation, stretching the truth, using homemade mathematics and the
speaking of outright lies over and over again, classic orwellian type stuff,
like repeating a lie enough times make it the truth.
