Europe, and the rest of the world too, should definately NOT look to the
U.S. for leadership in defense issues, social issues, nor any other
issues. It is time for the U.S. to mind it's own business, stop meddling
in the affairs of others, and tend to it's own problems. These problems
have been glossed over for far too long by the "Greater Urgency" of
foreign affairs. We are exporting our schizoid policies by forcing them
on everyone else in order to make ourselves look better. Let's take a
"time out" and get our own house in order. Let's let the rest of the
world figure things out for themselves, in their own way. One size does
not fit all.
>* Do you agree with the Army going LIGHT?
Yes. We are currently light years ahead of everyone else in hitech
military gadgets, and new technologies are making our BILLIONS of
investment in "wonderous gadgets" worthless even before they are
fielded. No one is going to "nuke" the U.S. as we are rapidly making
ourselves irrelevant.

Their missions are different.

Yes. Untill we understand that our demarcation of Europe based on
geopolitical lines is and always was destined to fail, and that the
people will, in the end, sort themselves out along ethnic lines, there
will be continual conflicts in that area.

I do not think that GW will prevail in the end. Tho I did not vote for
either of these two bozo's I am now ernestly hoping that Gore wins the
"Contest" for a number of reasons. First, if Gore succeeds it will bring
out the rotten underbelly of the republican party in full revolt. That
way we can identify and deal with them as the lunatic fringe that they
are. I agree with much that the republicans stand for, but am totally
turned off my the religious zealots who insist on making every issue a
moral issue. Let's flush them out then flush them down the drain.

YES!!!

So true.

Unfortunately those in power are not willing to give it up without a
fight, and many in this country are so fat, dumb and happy right now that
they are not willing to make the sacrifices necessary for real change.
