FEDERALIST PERSPECTIVE

In the news this week, it's Day 24 of the Election 2000 hostage crisis
-- the "Goron Coup D' Tort." Liberals have successfully used their
judicial oligarchy to distort the original intent of the Constitution
beyond recognition. They have used their judicial activists on the
Supreme Court to overturn numerous voter initiatives in the states.
The next logical step is to have judicial activists in the state
courts overturn a national election. And that is their plan in
Florida.

Now that George Bush's Florida victory has been certified and the
December 12th deadline for selecting Electors approaching fast, Albert
Gore and company are desperately seeking a few hundred dimpled chads.

Mr. Bush's lawyers have asked the Supreme Court to bring "legal
finality" to the presidential election by ending any further recounts,
arguing, "The Florida Supreme Court's decision, which conflicts with
both federal statutes and the federal Constitution, will thus continue
to affect, and has the theoretical potential to change, the outcome of
the presidential election in Florida, and thus the nation."

Gore's barristers countered that the matter "does not belong in
federal court." But U.S. Code, Title 3, Section 37, says states must
act in accordance with state laws enacted "prior to" elections, and
that state law "shall be conclusive and shall govern the counting of
electoral votes." The Florida Supreme Court ignored both U.S. and
Florida statutes when deciding to allow additional subjective recounts
-- and may do so again if the Supremes do not stop them.

(Who would have thought that a premeditated lip-lock between Al and
Tipper at that Amerika2000 Demo-lition -- planned to boost Gore's
female support by 12% -- would test the integrity of our Republic's
Constitution?)

Let us make clear, once again, why the Florida Supreme Court's
decision to aid and abet voter fraud by allowing subjective hand
recounts from three overwhelmingly Democratic counties effectively
violated not only Florida law, but the Constitution's 14th Amendment
and U.S. law concerning the rights of all American voters -- not to
mention some 1100 absentee military voters -- and why this case, in
the proper federalist context, now belongs before the U.S. Supreme
Court.

This is, after all, not a state election but a national election, and,
as we have noted before, the underlying assumption in national
elections is that the aggregate vote tally across the nation -- or in
any state -- is randomly, thus equally, flawed. It follows then that
selecting a few heavily Democrat voter regions for a subjective "hand
recount," skews the randomness of such flaws, adulterating the
fairness of the entire election.

That having been said, the Supremes will likely pass on overturning
the Florida court. Subsequently, Gore will proceed with his myriad of
Florida suits, particularly his effort to get 15,000 absentee ballots
disqualified in Seminole County, and that may force the Florida
legislature to ignore the whole mess and send up a slate of its own
electors.

>From the inception of Mr. Gore's Coup D' Tort, we have argued that
Gore's ulterior motive remains to wage a public opinion campaign
designed to undermine the legitimacy of Mr. Bush's presidency. If the
Florida electoral votes are not conceded by December 18th, Congress
may ultimately have to decide who gets them on or after January 6.

Thus, if Gore can prolong his legal challenges and throw the matter
into Congress, he may win a tripleheader -- discrediting Mr. Bush, the
Republicans in Congress who seated him as president, and the
Republicans in the Florida legislature who put those alternate
electors before Congress. For Gore this is a high stakes game of
political bloodlust. The key question is whether he, with the help of
Clinton et al., can hold the allegiance of a sufficient number of his
constituent Gorons for the duration.

Gore's strategy is Goron dependent. He depended on the inability of
Gorons in Florida, who could not discern how to use a punch stylus to
get those chads out, and now he is depending on the inability of
Gorons, nationally, to discern between his prolific lies and the
truth.

After eight years in office, Bill Clinton has softened the beaches for
Gore by substantially lowering the bar separating right and wrong, if
not obfuscating it entirely. Clinton-Gore and their media have
devalued the cumulative American ethic and morality to the point that
Gore may be able to enjoy public support for his charade for many more
weeks. Odds are long that he will!

So, now you know why their mascot is a jackass!

Some public opinion polls now indicate bipartisan weakness in Gore's
support, so, predictably, he played his faithful "race-ace" this week
claiming: "One thing to remember is that the old and cheap, outdated
machinery is usually found in areas with populations that
are...minorities," proclaimed the Vice Divider. That play was in
conjunction with the NAACP's call for Janet "Blockade" Reno to
investigate "civil rights violations" in Florida. In the words of
consummate race-baiter Jesse Jackson, "African-Americans were
fundamentally targeted" for exclusion at Florida polling places. (We
suppose that explains the record number of votes cast by blacks in
Florida?)

Memo to Al: Exit polls indicate that 90% of black Americans voted for
Gore in numbers that gave him key victories in states with large
minority populations. Race was -- by a wide margin -- the most
politically divisive characteristic of this election. Gore got almost
100,000 votes from blacks in Florida.

(One thing this master of division did not expect was that his
strategy would do more to unite Republicans than any other event this
decade.)

A growing threat to the Goron strategy is the emergence of some
liberal protagonists who are going public with their complaints.

"I'm a liberal Democrat," notes longtime Demo pollster Pat Caddell. "I
started in Florida politics. I worked for George McGovern. I worked
for Jimmy Carter. I've worked for Ted Kennedy, Mario Cuomo. Nobody
can question, I think, my credentials and my convictions. But I have
to tell you, at this point it's hard to believe that my party, the
party I've belonged to since my great, great grandfather of my family,
has become no longer the party of principles, but has been hijacked by
a confederacy of gangsters who need to take power by whatever means
and whatever canards they can say."

Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., the godfather of the '60s left, told the
Washington Post, "I deplore the designation of Joe Lieberman. He's a
selfish man.... If Gore wins, Lieberman should resign his vice
presidency.... Lieberman is protected by his faith. If a Southern
Baptist had acted like he's acted, as if he were appointed by God, the
press would have been merciless."

Memo to our readers: If you would like to register your complaint,
send it to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> In the subject line put
"CONCEDE NOW!" You might add in the body of your message: If you had
won the 11 Electoral College votes from what you claim is your "home
state," Tennessee, all of this would be irrelevant -- but Tennessee
was short on Gorons!

Meanwhile, President-elect Bush has set up a transition shop, though
the White House has instructed the GSA not to release any transition
funds. As The Federalist has mentioned repeatedly, we are concerned
that Mr. Bush may be contemplating a "coalition government," filling
some cabinet and high level appointee slots with Democrats.

"Coalition government" is another way of saying, "I can't lead." If
Mr. Bush is to honor and give voice to our great American heritage, he
will have to drop the "compassionate conservative" cackle, forget the
coalition crock, get a vision for what "conservative" really means --
and lead! Fortunately, Dick Cheney knows what it means -- and how to
lead!

As noted by Thomas Bray, "Mr. Bush stands on the brink of a victory
that would, for the first time since Eisenhower, place the White
House, the Senate and the House in Republican hands. At their backs
would be a Supreme Court on which Republican nominees hold the upper
hand. This would hardly seem the time to go all wobbly with gauzy
visions of a bipartisan future."

Coalition talk notwithstanding, Mr. Bush conferred with Retired Gen.
Colin Powell regarding his willingness to serve as Secretary of State.
General Powell agreed.

In related news...

Not to be left out of the fracas, Bill Clinton found a microphone and
smugly remarked, "We trust our system. The courts will do what they're
going to do and that's the way it ought to be. [I'm thankful we live]
in a country with enough faith in its democracy that we'll all let it
work out. In some countries, people would be in the streets over
this."

Memo to Bill: Better hope this does not end up in the streets....
Regardless of who has more dimpled chads, those pesky Republicans
still have an overwhelming majority of those guns you and Al have
persistently endeavored to take away!

Quote of the week...

"The founders understood that democracy would inevitably evolve into a
system of legalized plunder unless the plundered were given numerous
escape routes and constitutional protections such as the separation of
powers, the Bill of Rights, election of senators by state legislators,
the electoral college, no income taxation, most governmental functions
performed at the state and local levels, and myriad other
constitutional limitations on the powers of the central government."
--Thomas J. DiLorenzo

And another...

"For the first time in the Republic's history, the party in power in
the White House, having lost a presidential election, seeks to
overturn that election in the courts. The...party in power is refusing
to cooperate in the orderly transfer of power to the winner of the
national election. ... In virtual lockstep, the leaders and elders of
the [Democrats] stand behind their defeated candidate's unprecedented
defiance of democracy's national edict. There is one thing you can
say about the Clinton-Gore crowd: With them, there is always some
fresh hell and there never is a bottom." --Michael Kelly

On cross-examination...

"The American people have said real clearly that they want the votes
counted, they want it to be fair and accurate, and that is more
important than a rush to judgment." --Albert Gore **When a Sociocrat
starts speaking for "the American people," watch out!

The BIG lie...

"I believe our Constitution matters more than convenience." --Albert
Gore

>From the "Trickle-Down Ethics" Files...

This month's Gorey Union Dues News: A federal grand jury indicted the
former president of Laborers' International Union Local 5 for
embezzling $473,106 in union funds. Another federal grand indicted the
secretary-treasurer of LIUNA Local 1290 on 10 counts of embezzling
union funds. Another federal grand jury indicted former Teamsters
Local 390 president for drug smuggling, extortion, racketeering and
conspiracy. The Kentucky Court of Appeals reinstated the indictment of
Demo Gov. Paul Patton's top aide and
Teamsters liaison on charges of circumventing campaign finance laws.

Judicial Benchmarks...

>From the Supremes, no word yet....

Court Jesters...

Plenty of them around....

Regarding your IRS overpayment...

It's been spent!

>From the department of military readiness...

"Republican lawyers are researching federal civil rights law to
determine if they can require Attorney General Janet Reno to charge
Florida Democrats for conspiring to block the counting of absentee
voting ballots sent in by the military," writes Paul Bedard. "One in
three enlisted persons are minorities."

>From the enlisted ranks: "I can properly describe our attitudes
toward the Democrats, specifically Gore, as being of an overtly
contemptuous nature and to the point of being furious. I have contact
with hundreds of soldiers each week. I cannot say that even one single
soldier displays any level of respect for this man and the actions of
the Democratic Party. I have a number of colleagues who have already
prepared their resignations and retirement requests who state that
they would 'refuse' to serve in a military commanded by Gore."

>From the officers ranks: "Like it's a soldier's fault he can't find a
U.S. Post Office in Kosovo or a sailor can't find one on a submarine?
Our fault the things weren't postmarked? Have they no shame?"

>From the retired ranks: "This battle will be won or lost by public
opinion. As of today, I have not heard a peep out of your [Defense
Secretary William Cohen's] office. Why? I would have expected you
personally to be on the national networks using your 'bully pulpit' to
get those votes counted. Your allegiance to the soldiers, sailors and
airmen that you oversee should take precedence over politics. I urge
you to make yourself visible to the nation in support of your troops."
--Rear Adm. Riley Mixon, former director of naval air warfare. The
American Legion added, "The men and women whose votes have been
discarded are in fact the protectors of freedom and democracy. They
have guaranteed the right of the citizens of the United States to vote
throughout the history of this nation."

Senior judge advocates for the Air Force and Army have issued blanket
warnings to the troops that Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military
Justice forbids military officers from using "contemptuous words"
against civilian leaders.

In business news...

"Gross domestic product rose at its slowest pace in nearly four years
in the third quarter. Retail sales and corporate profits also slipped.
Banks are reluctant to lend to businesses. All are signs the economy
is cooling." --Investor's Business Daily. **Years of virtually
unabated taxing and spending combined with a tightening money supply
will hand the next president an economy that is, indeed, getting
weaker. The Nasdaq slumped 4% and is now 49% off its March high. The
Dow is on its way down. More than half of American families are
stockholders. Somebody needs to read up on that old supply side stuff!
And, about all those projected government revenue surpluses....

Around the world...

"Bill Clinton ... [visited] Vietnam ..., following an Asia-Pacific
economic forum. To the bitter end, the president pursues his legacy --
a more dangerous world shaped by a flower-child foreign policy.
Clinton's worldview is founded on the illusions of the '60s anti-war
movement, foremost among them that international conflict is due to
misunderstandings, and as long as we're talking we're not fighting.
(Doesn't anyone remember Munich?) Clinton will be the first president
to call on the communist north. Rehabilitating Vietnam is his way of
justifying his conduct during the war. First he lifted the trade
embargo, then he normalized relations with Hanoi. Now he comes
courting the same regime responsible for the deaths of 58,000
Americans in the conflict he avoided." --Don Feder

Faith Matters...

A bit of Anglo history! We came across this Prayer for the Feast of
Saint Chad (672): "Almighty God, whose servant Chad, for the peace of
the Church, relinquished cheerfully the honours that had been thrust
upon him.... Keep us, we pray, from thinking of ourselves more highly
than we ought to think, and ready at all times to step aside for
others, in honor preferring one another, that the cause of Christ may
be advanced." He must have been the patron saint of contested
elections. So famous was he in the old country that Chadbrook,
Chadbury, Chadshurst, Chadsmoor, Chadstone, Chadwell and Chad Valley
all took their name from him.

Should Albert Gore succeed in his current folly, perhaps his followers
will rename Palm Beach -- Chad Beach!

And last, after Republicans overtook the House in 1994 on the strength
of Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America" (time for another one, by
the way), who can forget Newsweek magazine's December cover story,
"How the Gingrich Stole Christmas." We are anxiously waiting to see if
that rag's cover next week reads, "How the Gorinch Stole Christmas."
