-Caveat Lector-
Clinton tipped for top role at Oxford
BY PETER OBORNE AND TOBY MOORE
London Daily Express
OUTGOING President Bill Clinton is favourite to become the next
Chancellor of Oxford University. There is huge support within the
university for his appointment which would be a major
international coup.
The move would receive enthusiastic endorsement from Tony Blair
while Mr Clinton himself, who leaves the White House next month,
has fond memories of his Oxford student days in the sixties and
would welcome the global prestige.
Supporters of Mr Clinton's case say he has impeccable academic
credentials and stature to do the job. They add he would "do
wonders" for university fund-raising.
But before Clinton can don the ceremonial robes and hat of the
Chancellor he first has to win the backing of the Convocation,
the body which includes graduates who hold Masters of Arts
degrees as well as academics.
Initially he will need 50 votes from these members and then stand
in a full election in which he will have to beat off the
traditionally stiff competition.
His appointment is backed by several Oxford college heads. One
said last night: "It's vital that Oxford maintains its worldwide
profile, and nothing could beat having President Clinton as
Chancellor. He's never forgotten his time here as a Rhodes
scholar and the link-up would make great sense."
Another master of a well-known college said: "Oxford needs a
figurehead of world stature. President Clinton is already thought
to be interested in spending a year here as a visiting professor.
"Taking on the extra responsibilities as Chancellor in future
would make sense all round." But some Oxford graduates have mixed
feelings about the appointment. Olympic Gold medal winner Matthew
Pinsent, a fellow at St Catherine's College, was amazed the
President was being considered.
He said: "I doubt he will have enough academic weight to carry
any election. While he has built his name as a politician, I fear
that his reputation will prevent him from securing the post."
But Emily Mortimer, actress and daughter of Rumpole of the Bailey
creator John, said: "President Clinton would be a fantastic
choice. He has just run the United States and so being in charge
of Oxford University would be well within his capabilities. He is
a very charming, intelligent and dynamic man and would be a great
asset."
A spokesman for Mr Clinton told the Sunday Express: "Obviously,
he has strong links to the university and were such a position
offered to him, I'm sure he would give it every consideration."
It marks the clearest indication yet that an Oxford role is one
he would find acceptable, a platform with international prestige.
The spokesman went on: "Obviously he is a young, vibrant, global
figure and he will remain very active in international affairs."
Hank Sheinkopf, a senior Democratic Party analyst and friend of
the President, said he was not surprised by the move.
But the timing would be crucial. "As long as a job like that
didn't interfere with his ability to make money, then he'd
probably go for it. My betting is he'll wind up being part of a
strategic consulting company. Now if the Oxford position wouldn't
interfere with that, why not?" The Chancellorship of Oxford
university is a lifetime post, traditionally held by statesmen
rather than academics. The current Chancellor, Lord Jenkins, is
an enthusiastic supporter of the Clinton idea.
It is very much a ceremonial and ambassadorial role, representing
the university's interests in the wider world.

A SNOOTY MEN'S CLUB --
Cecil Rhodes ( 1853-1902 ) went to Oxford University where to the
amazement of no one, he learned that, " the British upper classes
possessed a glorious tradition of beauty, decency, education, law, and
self discipline."
After a solid education at Oxford, he was now prepared to steal as
much as he could from the native peoples of Africa. With the
financial backing of the Rothschild banking interests he founded the
Consolidated Gold Fields, and DeBeers diamond empire in southern
Africa. He also founded a country wittily named Rhodesia. Towards the
end of his life he had a personal yearly income of $ 10,000,000
dollars in today's money.
HE HAD A DREAM --
"The idea gleaming and dancing before ones eyes like a will-of-the-
wisp at last frames itself into a plan. Why should we not form a
secret society with but one object, the furtherance of the British
Empire and the bringing of the whole uncivilised world under British
rule, for the recovery of the United States, for the making the
Anglo-Saxon race one Empire. What a dream, but yet it is probable,
it is possible." -- Cecil Rhodes, June 2, 1877
He desired " to federate the English - speaking peoples and to
bring all the habitable portions of the world under their control.
For this purpose Rhodes left part of his great fortune to found the
Rhodes Scholarships at Oxford in order to spread the English ruling
class tradition." ( Quigley )
" For fear that death might cut me off before the time for attempting
its development, I leave all my worldly goods in trust ... to try to
form such a Society with such an object."
-- Cecil Rhodes, June 2, 1877
To these purposes Rhodes formed a private secret society with some
very heavy hitters. Lord Balfour, Lord Gray, Lord Esher, Lord
Rothschild, and Lord Milner (who organized a group called the British
Round Table).
" From 1884 to about 1915 the members of the group worked
valiantly to extend the British empire and to organize it into a
federal system... Stead (one of the group) was able to get Rhodes to
accept, in principle, a solution which might have made Washington the
capital of the whole organization or allow parts of the empire to
become states of the American Union." ( Quigley )
The chief backbone of this organization grew up along the already
existing financial cooperation running from the Morgan Bank in New
York to a group of international financiers in London led by Lazard
Brothers. Lord Milner became a director of the precursor to the giant
Midland Bank. He became one of the greatest political and financial
powers in England with his disciples placed throughout England in
significant places, such as the editorship of the Times, the
editorship of the Observer, the managing directorship of Lazard
Brothers, various administrative posts, and even Cabinet positions.
Ramifications were established in politics, high finance, Oxford and
London Universities, periodicals, the civil service, and tax - exempt
foundations." ( Quigley )
"The methods [used by the Milner Group] can be summed up
under three headings: (a) a triple-front penetration in politics,
education, and journalism; (b) the recruitment of men of ability
(chiefly from [certain universities]) and the linking of these
men to the [Group] by matrimonial alliances and by gratitude for
titles and positions of power; and (c) the influencing of public
policy by placing members of the [Group] in positions of power
shielded as much as possible from public attention.

"In Washington, more Rhodes Scholars have been attracted to the State
Department than to any other branch of the government, but there is
good representation in the departments of War, Navy, Justice...".

"The Rhodes Trustees will not be satisfied until a Rhodes Scholar is
President of the United States"
-- from Forty Years of Rhodes Scholarships,
by Carleton Kemp Allen (1944), page 18.
"Next week an Oxford man will become President of the United States.
Three members of Bill Clinton's cabinet, two Supreme Court Judges and
a host of congressmen are also Oxonians. In Japan, Oxford University
now boasts not only the future emperor, Crown Prince Naruhito, but
also his future wife, Masako Owada (a Balliol woman), among its alumni.
With the worlds two most powerful economies sewn up, Oxford can afford
to be smug. For its tentacles in the new world, Oxford owes much to the
system of Rhodes Scholarships, which since 1903, have attracted some of
the brightest of America's political climbers. Britain no longer rules
the world. But, thanks to an old university with an excellent brand-name,
it at least helps fashion the worlds rulers." -- London 'Economist',
January 16, 1993.

>From _ Roadshow of Deception _ ...
Between the ages of 24 and 26 Cecil Rhodes made seven wills. The first will
established a secret society -- it was called the "Secret Society Will." The
seventh will established the Rhodes Scholarships. The scholarships were to
be awarded to Americans, Germans, and colonials for study at Oxford. All
Souls College at Oxford would become the secret societies headquarters.
Rhodes third will made his financier, Lord Rothschild trustee. The Rhodes
Scholarship will changed the trustee to Rothschild's son-in-law Lord Rosebury.
Rothschild was Jewish, Rosebury wasn't. Rosebury, was a more fitting
trustee then his Jewish father-in-law.
Rhodes was born 5 July 1853. The first will, written in 1877, established the
"Secret Society" --"The Round Table." Rhodes was the first Round Table
leader. Rhodes' wills insured Round Table members the funds to carry on for
generations to come. The men of the Round Table were English upper class --
the University Educated -- The Wealthy -- the Privileged. The group was
publicly referred to as the English "establishment." Secret Society members
included students from Oxford and Cambridge. The Oxford boys included Cecil
Rhodes, Arnold Toynbee, Lord Alfred Milner, Arthur Glazebrook, Sir George
Parkin, Philip Lyttleton Gell, and Sir Henry Birchenough. The Cambridge boys
included Reginald Baliol Brett ( aka Lord Esher), Sir John B. Seeley, Lord
Albert Grey, Arthur Edmund Garrett. The aim of the secret society, and the
purpose of the Rhodes Scholarships, was to spread English ruling class
tradition throughout the English-speaking world. The boys of Oxford and
Cambridge would devote their lives to extension of the British Empire and
uplift of England's urban masses as two parts of one project which they
called "extension of the English-speaking idea." Pursuit of the "extension of
the English-speaking idea" included becoming rich through war and plunder.
The imperialism of the time of Rhodes generated $40 billion in gold, diamonds,
and slaves. The Round Table boys captured the lions share of the spoils
resulting from their ignoble efforts.3

All Souls College at Oxford, and the Institute for Advanced Study at
Princeton, where established by the
English and American Round Table groups to conduct and coordinate
Round Table research and
development projects. The Council on Foreign Relations established
the Institute for Advanced Study at
Princeton in 1928. The acronym for the Institute is IASP ( pronounced I-asp).
An asp is a poisonous
snake, such as cobra (serpent of the hood), whose name is derived
from the Greek word "aspis"
meaning "in the shape of a hood." John Oppenheimer, John von Neumann,
and Council on Foreign
Relations member George Kennan were only a few famous men who worked
for the Institute of
Advanced Study at Princeton. The Foreign Nationalities Branch of the
Intelligence Directorate of the
Office of Strategic Services was founded by veteran diplomats
John C. Wiley and Dewitt C. Poole.
Poole had been director of Princeton's School of Pubic Affairs and
a member of the nearby Institute for
Advanced Study. All Souls College and the Institute for Advanced
Study provided Round Table
Controlled Intelligence Organizations with excellent cover for
their intelligence gatherers. Abraham
Flexner organized The Institute for Advanced Study in 1928.
Flexner was a member of the J.P. Morgan
influenced Council on Foreign Relations; worked for the
Carnegie Foundation; Rockefeller's General
Education Board; and served as a Rhodes Memorial Lecturer at
Oxford Universities All Souls College.
Flexner worked with Tom Jones, an active member of the
London Round Table group at All Souls
College, the Round Table Groups chief headquarters in England.
Flexner and Jones based the plans for
the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton upon All Souls College.
All Souls College and the Institute
for Advanced Study at Princeton were but a small part of the
preparations of a power structure
established between London and New York Round Table Groups.
Abraham Flexner, member of the
Council on Foreign Relations would be the director of IASP from 1930-1939. 34
