Tribes to states to nations to regions to global. Maybe this is just the
next logical step in the steady progression towards one world government.
While I do not, in theory, object to some form of world governing body
with limited power, I do have concerns. Any world governing body should
be for the betterment of the world as a whole, not as an
economic/military power structure. I can't help but think that the EU
is adopting more of the American Vampire Capitalistic concepts than the
old European Benevolent Uncle concept. Washington may be in a tizzy
because their corporate puppeteers are getting nervous. With the rise of
"Trading Blocks" around the world freezing out Corporate America, they
see a limit on their growth potential. If the EU can rival Corporate
America, and develope a military equivalent to the U.S, can the 600lb
Gorilla learn to behave in a world of equals? Maybe it is time for us
(US) to play nice with Canada and Mexico before they get really pissed
and join some other "Trading Block".

Just a thought
