-Caveat Lector-

Well, Samantha, this is hardly a "spin." If YOU know of a law authorizing
the FL Supreme Court's actions, please share it with the world as no one
else has been able to come up with one. The example you give is APPLYING a
law that actually already exists. An interpretation is usually explaining
the theory of a law without actually applying it to a specific case but
neither apply in this instance. I refer you to the Chief Justice of this
same FL Supreme Court in his dissent stating that the court acted
"lawlessly" and "without any basis in law."

Please remember that this court began its actions without a case even being
brought before it. The state legislature is the correct body to determine
electoral votes and is elected by the people. The judges are appointed and
in this case, every one of them by Democrats. They jumped in to take the
election away from the legislature where it lawfully belonged. Courts only
rule when there is a question of wrong-doing which did not apply in this
case. It did not help that Gore's lawyer Boies shamelessly lied to them but
was caught doing so. There are federal laws preventing changing the rules
after the election and that is where they were writing laws as they went
along, changing deadlines, over-ruling elected officials like Sec. of State
Harris.

The fact that such dishonesty went on in what manual counts as were done did
not help either. Just running the ballots through the machines twice
dislodges many chads before the Democratic operatives counting did their
dirty work. Now it is impossible to get a reading as we will never know how
many ballots were mutilated by these over-zealous counters, etc.

The law is set up to prevent exactly what they tried to do--place the
outcome of the election in the hands of same-party appointees. Separation
of power and all of that but basically, there are NO laws authorizing what
they did and NO! This is NOT what courts are supposed to do. The
legislature, elected by the people, is where laws are to be written and they
must be in place before an election. I voted for Nader but am conservative
and believe Bush would have the votes in a FAIR and HONEST recount. I
understand Gore supporters thinking he might squeak by if a recount by his
operative were held but the lack of standards, obviously biased and corrupt
standards already used, etc. make it now impossible to ever know.
