Just this past summer our local utility company (EPUD) was gleefully
telling the public (who nominally owns it) of the windfall profits they
are making by selling electricity to San Diego at many times the previous
rate. They told us that they now had the 'extra money' to complete
several planned projects. Only a few of us mentioned that it may not be
in our best interests to gouge California in their time of need, and that
a more equitable pricing would be more moral and fair. This was hooted
at by EPUD and most citizens. I hope the situation is never reversed and
it is this area that needs help. Gouging us would be a fair turnaround.
