Peace at any cost is a Prelude to War!
My Christmas Greeting

The story of America is intrinsically linked to the story of Christmas.
Without Christmas there would be no United States of America. Patrick Henry
said, "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great
nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on
religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
On July 4, 1837 the longest surviving Founding Father, John Quincy Adams,
said, "Why is it that, next to the birthday of the Savior of the World, your
most joyous and most venerated festival returns on this day (Independence
Day)? Is it not that, in the chain of human events, the birthday the nation
is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? That it forms a
leading event in the Progress of the Gospel dispensation? Is it not that the
Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the
foundation of the Redeemer's mission upon earth? That it laid the
cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity and
gave to the world the first irrevocable pledge of the fulfillments of the
prophecies announced directly from Heaven at the birth of the Savior and
predicted by the greatest of the Hebrew prophets 600 years before?"
As we celebrate our Lord's birth, let us also commit ourselves to restoring
the fundamental principles that birthed our great country. As you will not
receive my commentaries next week, I would like to extend to each you my
heartiest Christmas greetings. I pray you will have the merriest Christmas
ever.
Here, then, is the Christmas story as found in Matthew's Gospel:
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was
espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of
the Holy Ghost.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a
publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared
unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take
unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy
Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he
shall save his people from their sins.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the
Lord by the prophet saying,
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they
shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden
him, and took unto him his wife:
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called
his name JESUS. (Matt. 1:18-25 KJV)
