-Caveat Lector-
In all the flurry of posts that have been made in the past couple of days in response
to my questioning
regarding the tunnels, the majority have been solely the forwarding of previously
printed articles. Not one
has addressed the main question I was asking.
I'm not disputing whether abuse -- 'ritual' or otherwise -- occured. I agree that
there is plenty of evidence
that SOMETHING of a sexual nature occured with many of the children.
But I find it hard to believe that an elderly woman and her son could have built the
system of tunnels that
were found solely on their own, and no one else no about it. I find it hard to
believe that they could have
built it even with the help of a few cronies who were part of the group of abusers.
In other words, in all the hysteria focused solely on the people who were running the
school at the time the
abuse came to light, and who subsequently went to trial, what is overlooked is the
seeming evidence that this
was going on for a very long time, probably even before the McMartins came on the
scene, and that it was
organized by a very sophisticated group who could successfully construct a series of
tunnels in the
neighborhood and keep the construction and knowledge of those tunnels existence secret
for decades.
To spell it out, it would seem that the McMartins were the designated patsies (which
does not mean I think
them innocent), and that the real 'perps' have not only gone scot free, but never even
had any suspicion cast
upon them.
And I wonder why this has not been obvious to all those who spend so much energy in
saving and forwarding all
the articles purporting to 'prove' how guilty the McMartins were...instead of using
that energy to look behind
the smoke and mirrors...
