Great article, Karen.  Extremely even account of what's been
going on with the sociological/anthropological "study" of the
Yanomamo (pronounced, btw, "yawn-o-mommie" or "onna-mommie"),
versus their being "saved" by The Church.  In fact, this is the
ONLY thing I've ever read about these ppl and the "study" of them
that was not totally and obviously biased before even the end of
the first paragraph.

Anyway, I have been following the various controversies
mentioned, as well as others currently brewing over the Yanomamo
(pronounced, btw, "yawn-no-mommie" or "onna-mommie"), and I have
a STRONG hunch that the bad guys in all this are the Catholic
Church, as is seemingly always the case, i.e., seems to me that
traditionally/historically anything/anyone that "The Church"
touches turns bad, usually VERY bad.

Can anyone help me out here?  I need to know if Chagnon, whom
I've heard speak a few times, had anything to do with the deaths
of thousnads of Yanomamo that died of Measles.  I need informed
opinions, if not facts.
