This is, of course, a reference to Chappaquidick...lest we forget.
And it is certainly not refreshing, It is part of the Republicans highly
successful and utterly relentless program of the Politics of
Personal Destruction.
There are now ugly allegations against a highly respected black
aide to Sheldon Silver--in NY State. A young Republican worker in
the state capitol has accused him of "sexual harassment." She
would not file criminal charges, but has gone to civil court.
Of course, the Dems hold control of the NY State legislature and
have been unshakeable. And if the Reps can't do it with aboveboard
politics, they will, as usual, go for the groin.
The aide will likely be found blameless, but the shame and
unpleasantness will stick--which is, of course, all that matters.
