Roger Clinton Not Yet Questioned by FBI
More than three weeks after U.S. Attorney for New York's
Southern District Mary Jo White opened a criminal probe into
allegations that Roger Clinton was involved in a presidential
pardon-selling scheme, investigators have yet to question the
former first brother.
"As of now, Roger Clinton not only has not responded to the
Burton Committee's inquiries, he has not been interrogated by the
FBI," reported WABC Radio's John Batchelor late Monday.
Last month Batchelor, along with WABC co-host Paul Alexander,
broke the story of the first brother's alleged involvement in a
pardons-for-cash scam that cleaned out the family of Garland
Lincecum, who's now serving a seven-year jail sentence in an
Oklahoma federal penitentiary.
Though first approached by Roger's business partners in late
1998, the Lincecum family claims that promises for a prison
commutation were reiterated right through President Clinton's
last days in office.
The evidence in the case includes smoking-gun canceled checks
totaling $235,000 made out by the Lincecums to CLM LLC, an
Arkansas company run by Roger and two partners.
A spokeswoman for Mary Jo White refused to comment last week when
asked by NewsMax.com whether White's investigators had grilled
Roger.
But Mark Corallo, press secretary for the House Government Reform
and Oversight Committee's Pardongate probe, told NewsMax.com that
Clinton had failed to respond after repeated attempts to reach
him.
"We can't even find out who his lawyer is," Corallo said.
Over the weekend Batchelor and Alexander added new details to
their previous report that Roger Clinton met with the Lincecum
family.
"The meeting took place in Dallas in the fall of 1998 at a hotel
near the Dallas-Ft. Worth airport," they said.
A so-far-unidentified witness to the meeting has told
investigators he purchased two first-class airplane tickets for
Roger and a companion from Los Angeles to Dallas.
