-Caveat Lector- Let's hope this is NOT what is happening in Kentucky for then we could have all the horses destroyed as with cows in Europe! I have checked my immediate vicinity and there is nothing like this happening here although this is a different type of horse. These are show horses, Tennessee Walkers, Quarter horses and such for show, competition and some just for riding. There are no racing horses in the area. This could be some sort of attack on racing horses only because of the betting, etc. Some mafia connection or scheme to rig racing? Although some of the local horses are quite valuable, too, none have reported ANY lost foals. In fact, the foals are superfine and plentiful, two superior Walkers selling for high prices but they would not tell me how much. :-> Hinted and finally asked outright and they declined to reveal. Breeders in this area are paranoid, myself included with the dogs. NO ONE allowed around animals unless personally known. These horse people know me and that I do not have horses myself, etc. Had a friend have parvo deliberately introduced into her kennel (she proved it in court) and lost 40+ dogs as vaccines are not always reliable and there was a new strain (154, I believe) around then. It is a sick world in which we live and all animals will have to be kept from the public and all sorts of precautions taken to prevent this form of bioterrorism. I do not allow people to handle the parents when looking at puppies, etc. Look through a fence but NOT touch. I know this is sort of cold but better safe than sorry. What next? Security guards at dairies? Masks and gowns required?
