Bernhard is Prince Consort. The real monarch in the Netherlands
is Queen Beatrix.
Quite a stir was aroused when she married Bernhard because the Dutch
have long memories of the atrocities they suffered under German occupation
during WWII. Bernhard is not only German, but was a member of
Hitler's Youth Corps.
