Israeli army enters Gaza land after mortar blasts GAZA CITY, June 4 - Agence France Presse Israeli army tanks and bulldozers entered areas under full Palestinian control in the Gaza Strip overnight near a Jewish settlement that came under mortar fire, a Palestinian security official said Monday. In the first such raid since last Wednesday, army bulldozers destroyed around 50 dunums (five hectares or 12 acres) of greenhouses, vegetable patches and olive trees at Deir al-Balah next to the Kfar Darom settlement in the central Gaza Strip, the official said. They left barbed wire on the land after withdrawing, residents said. The settlement was hit by several mortar bombs fired by Palestinians from the Deir al-Balah area, the Israeli army said, after Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat on Saturday ordered a complete ceasefire against all Israeli targets. The blasts caused no injuries or damage, an army spokesman said.
