Signifie-t-il quelque chose? Qui sait?

--two years in Army Intelligence--

--a five-year involvement with the New York State Republican Party, then the
1988 George Bush presidential campaign, a consultant to the State Department,
Spanish language training at the Foreign Service Institute, and then off to
Ecuador as the American Ambassador.
I returned to my law firm in 1992 and am doing what I have done
professionally since "day one." I am a wildly enthusiastic supporter of

I decided to go to Yale when I was eight years old. I had listened to the
radio broadcast of the 1936 Yale-Princeton football game, which Yale won
26-23. Clint Frank and Larry Kelley were heroic. "This is where the heroes
are," I concluded.

I have practiced the law of trusts and estates in New York City for over
forty years. If I had to choose again, I would do the same. I have a
beautiful wife, three lovely children (our son Chris died tragically at age
twenty), and two irresistible (what else!) grandchildren".

My post-Yale, nonlegal life may be divided roughly into three fifteen-year
segments. The first fifteen years were Harvard Law School, two years in Army
Intelligence, marriage, four children, late nights at the office,
weekend-jock life, and a law firm partnership.

The se[c]ond fifteen years were strongly education related. There was heavy
involvement with Hotchkiss, The Brearley School, and our great University. My
commitment to Yale was major, lasting over a ten-year period (AYA Chairman
for two). It was a rare pleasure and a remarkable postgraduate education.
Yale isn't perfect, but for those who are disenchanted, I urge you to spend
some time with Yale faculty and Yale students. You will quickly appreciate
the extraordinary quality of the Yale community.

The final segment can only be described as a political "roll," which in
retrospect seems more like a dream than a reality. First came a five-year
involvement with the New York State Republican Party, then the 1988 George
Bush presidential campaign, a consultant to the State Department, Spanish
language training at the Foreign Service Institute, and then off to Ecuador
as the American Ambassador.

I returned to my law firm in 1992 and am doing what I have done
professionally since "day one." I am a wildly enthusiastic supporter of
Governor George W. Bush. He has great leadership qualitites,[sic] and he will
be good for the country. I am devoted to my wife and children. I have been
very fortunate. I am ever grateful to Yale for the values it instilled in me
and for my Yale friends, who are like no other.

There it is — fifty years in five hundred words. How swiftly life passes.
