FBI sharpshooter may be tried
Agent in 1992 Ruby Ridge killing could face charges
ASSOCIATED PRESS
SAN FRANCISCO, June 5 - A federal appeals court said Tuesday
that an FBI sharpshooter may be tried for his role in the 1992
Ruby Ridge standoff and death of Vicki Weaver. The wife of
white separatist Randy Weaver was shot and killed during the
incident.
THE DECISION by an 11-judge panel in San Francisco
reverses a ruling by a three-judge panel from the same court.
It ruled last year that state prosecutors could not try the
agent, Lon Horiuchi, for "actions taken in pursuit of his
duties as a federal law enforcement officer."
