-Caveat Lector- Home Depot Encourages Contributions to Homosexual Group CNSNews.com Tuesday, June 5, 2001 The world's largest chain of home improvement stores is offering incentives to customers who donate to a homosexual activist organization in honor of Father's Day. Home Depot will give $25 gift certificates to anyone making a contribution of $100 or more to Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). "The Father's Day promotion is a demonstration of Home Depot's inclusive spirit," said Kirsten Kingdon, PFLAG executive director. The retail chain amended its policy on equal employment opportunity May 11 to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation. Suzanne Apple, vice president of community affairs for Home Depot, said the promotion was "a great opportunity for Home Depot to support PFLAG's work in building stronger families, a cornerstore of our community involvement program."
