And if we reap the benefits, we are complicit in the act to
some extent and must wallow in our guilt? For we have no way
of knowing what might have been had things been done
differently. Many shades of grey and so few black and white.
By night all cats be grey? Is our worst worse than their
worse? A few million dead less maybe and there but for the
grace go we or must we, too, go? What are the choices in the
context of reality and not theory? Many times there are not
good options from which to chose and so we settle in order to
survive.
For things are not as they seem but from time to time, even in
play, one dog will bite the other a bit too hard and the
bitten one begin fighting for real. And how does either know
it is just play? When does the game become real and when is
it just play and does one bet his life on being able to
discern the difference?
