Gays, eco-extremists, wiccans, pagans, anarchists are not the "extreme
side of the left." Many among them aren't leftists at all, not by any
stretch of the imagination.
Some gays, some wiccans, and some pagans are leftists. Some gays and
some pagans are rightists. Most wiccans are apolitical. No wiccans are
rightists. Anarchists are neither leftists nor rightists. Eco-extremism
was founded by Nazis. Some contemporary eco-extremists are leftists,
some are rightists and some are anarchists. Making it even more
complicated is that the very definition of "extreme" is a relative one.
The same position can be easily seen as extreme by one faction and as
moderate by another faction.
Get your facts straight. Better still, abandon the paradigm. Left/right
is a false dichotomy. The spectrum is insufficient in scope to serve as
a valid metaphor for the political landscape.
