Culture comment...

At the National Education Association's annual convention next week, a
resolution promoting homosexuality in government schools is in the
works, which states: "The National Education Association recognizes
that the complex and diverse needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual,
transgender, and questioning students; and gay, lesbian, bisexual, and
transgender families and their children require the development of
programs that promote a safe and inclusive environment."

Thus, the NEA proposes to develop a "curriculum and instructional
materials and programs designed to meet the needs of gay, lesbian,
bisexual, and transgender students; programs that support gay,
lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning students and to
recognize the importance of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender
education employees as role models; and programs and information that
include the contributions, heritage, culture, and history of gay,
lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people."

What has your kids done learnt themselves today?

Faith Matters...

In news from the "Village Church" bulletin, noting that the American
church is in a "crisis of faith," two Third World Anglican archbishops
have consecrated four conservative American priests as bishops, a move
which the worldwide Anglican Communion has been anticipating for some
time. The Archbishop of Canterbury decried the move as a trespass on
the territory of the 2.3 million member Episcopal Church of the USA.

"I believe this is the opening round in what will become a realignment
in the Anglican Communion along the fault line of biblical truth,"
commented Bishop Charles Murphy, ordained early last year by Rwandan
Archbishop Emmanuel Kolini in Singapore. "More and more people are
going to decide whether they are going to go the way of truth or
unity." One of the four new Bishops, T.J. Johnston, of Little Rock,
Arkansas, added, "A church divided over the essentials of a faith
cannot stand. What the Anglican Mission has done is given us covering
to step out from under a faith that was deeply divided on the
essentials of faith."

Syndicated columnist, and lifelong Episcopalian Bill Murchison says
"It's mission time in America," noting that the Episcopal Church is so
full of heretical teachings that the world Anglican Communion now sees
the U.S. as a mission field. The Episcopal Church is dominated by a
cadre of Leftelitists posing as clergy.

On the frontiers of junk science...

>From the "Keen Sense of the Obvious" Department, Michael Joyner, the
homosexual spokesman for GlaxoSmithKline (world's largest supplier of
drugs used to combat AIDS), declared, "I make no connection between
gay pride and HIV. I don't think the lifestyle has anything to do
with AIDS."

That should keep business booming!

Around the world, but getting closer every day...

The UN's International Court of Justice in The Hague charged that the
U.S. ignored the legal rights, under international law, of two
German-born brothers executed in 1999 for the murder of a bank manager
during a 1982 robbery. Germany claimed the U.S. violated the Vienna
Convention by not informing consular officials of the arrest and
murder convictions of Walter and Karl LaGrand. Did someone mention
"U.S. sovereignty"?

You gotta love the tenacity of these boobs!

And last, Ms. Barbara Graham (whose arrest was reported in The
Federalist last year) was sentenced to 10 years to life for shooting
Mr. Kikko Smith, whom, she believed, was responsible for the death of
her 19-year-old son, Le'Pierre Clemons. Missing from the media's
reports on her conviction was the part about Ms. Graham being a high
profile activist with the anti-gun group, Million Mom March, prior to
her arrest.

EDITORIAL EXEGESIS

"Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, who is conducting the 2001
Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR), has apparently concluded that it
would cost too much money to transform our military and properly fund
the U.S. armed forces to be prepared to fight and win two nearly
simultaneous major regional conflicts, or MRCs post-Cold War global
war-fighting requirements that were first delineated in 1993 and
reiterated in the 1997 QDR. That conclusion is wrong. Such a policy
would continue the unacceptable Clintonian underfunding of the
military's war-fighting capabilities. Moreover, it would introduce an
arguably highly unstable period during which America's inability to
simultaneously engage in hostilities in two different theaters could
unintentionally invite the very hostilities that the dual MRC strategy
was intended to deter. As Frederick W. Kagan, who teaches history at
the United States Military Academy at West Point, cogently argues in
the current issue of the Weekly Standard, 'One of the most dangerous
things we can do is create a window during which it will be relatively
safe to attack our interests, and after which it will be impossible.
Instead, we must maintain our armed forces and our global commitment
even as we transform our forces'. ... Indeed, the share of America's
total economic output allocated to national defense plunged from a
moderate 4.8% in 1992...to less than 3% in 2001, the lowest level
since the year before Pearl Harbor." --Washington Times

This week's "Leftmedia Non Compos Mentis" Award: "We launder our views
through, quote, 'objective critics.' And certainly the press is pretty
green, the press is pretty pro-environment and I don't think there's
any question that they, as a body, feel that Bush is wrong on the
environment. I'm excluding the conservative press -- the Weekly
Standard and so forth -- but generally the press is pretty green and
they're going to use the Europeans to take the Bushies to task."
--Newsweek Assistant Managing Editor Evan Thomas on the liberal media
bias. **No apologies for these "objective critics"? {} This week's
"News Nonsensica" Award: "If anyone's trying to limit debate it's John
Stossel, by suggesting commie lefties are behind this as some sort of
plot. ... He's a bully and he's finally been challenged." --Ken Cook,
"commie leftie" president of the Environmental Working Group,
responding to Stossel's latest program exposing how government schools
are indoctrinating American children with Leftist enviro-babble. **We
suppose school children are able to deduce, by their own cognitive
ability, that "cars are making big holes in the ozone"? {} This
week's "Bryant Gumball" Award: "We don't visit Black America; we live

to CBS newsman Bryant Gumbel, who mocked the magazine's portrayal of
blacks {} This week's "Leftmedia Buster" Award: "The media love
explaining why Rudy and Donna dislike each other. But not why Senator
Tom Daschle wants more tax money for education, despite the fact that
the Department of Education flunked its last three audits and perhaps
a billion tax dollars have gone missing." --Bill O'Reilly

Award: "I don't think I will ever be taken that seriously until I
attack something really classical." --John Travolta {} From the "It's
Not Easy Being Green" File: Up to 20,000 people are expected to gather
by July 4th on 9 square miles at the Boise National Forest for the
annual festival of the "Rainbow Family," a group self-described as
having no leaders and no organization, proclaiming, "We also believe
that Peace and Love are a great thing, and there isn't enough of that
in this world. Many of our traditions are based on Native American
traditions, and we have a strong ]
orientation to take care of the Earth. We gather in the National
Forests yearly to pray for peace on this planet." Only thing is, the
gathering is at the location of endangered salmon spawning grounds,
and likely to damage the $6 million in recent Forestry Service
improvements to the endangered species habitat. {} From the "Village
Academic Curriculum" File: Ohio University has designated 30 campus
restrooms especially for "transgendered" students. According to
university's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Program Office,
"transgenders" are defined as: "People who, on a variety of levels,
identify with the opposite gender from their biological sex. These
people tend to view gender on a spectrum, rather than a polarized,
either/or construct. This can range from identification to cross
dressing, to undergoing hormone therapy and/or sex reassignment
surgery."

Night Lines:

Leno.... President Bush is still working to get the government to give
religious organizations money. He says there is no reason why
government and religion can't work together. It worked so well in
Iran. .... You know who was hit the worst with these power outages?
Restaurants. They suffer the most. Like today, over here at the
McDonald's, the kids had to give the wrong change by hand. .... You
know, in Beverly Hills they don't call it a blackout. They call it
"mood lighting." .... Mitsubishi has a new slogan, "An SUV you'll
flip over!" That's the big story. The Mitsubishi SUV, the Montero,
will flip over easily in certain driving conditions -- such as with
passengers in it! To Mitsubishi's credit, they said if your Montero
does flip over, you can bring it back to the dealer and they will
install, absolutely free, a dome light on the floor. .... Jesse
Jackson has postponed his boycott of Toyota. I guess he couldn't find
anything that rhymes with Corolla! .... New York state has become the
first state to ban cell phones. But you can still shave, put on
makeup, comb your hair, drink coffee and read a book while driving.
... Scientists have taken a gene from an ear of corn and a gene from
Prince Charles, and they got the world's largest ear of corn. ....
Bill Gates is the richest man in the world at $58 billion. That just
goes to show you how much you can save when you don't have to buy new
computer software every six months. Gates is so rich he has an ATM
machine in his bathroom.

Letterman.... Welcome to "The Late Show with Dave Letterman" on CBS!
CBS is the network that you watch when your dog steps on the remote.
... Former President Clinton has been out giving addresses at high
school and college commencements. At one here in New York he told the
students that he wished he was a kid again. Didn't he get impeached
because he was a kid? Of course he wants to be a kid again -- he
wouldn't be married to Hillary then! .... Today was Puerto Rican
Day here in New York City. They had a big parade. This gave Hillary
time off from pretending to be Jewish to pretend to be Puerto Rican.
... Bozo the Clown has retired after 41 years! The actual Bozo
retiring today was not the original. This was the son of Bozo, Bozo W.
the Clown. This means the only one left in show biz with the same
color hair as Bozo is Pete Rose. .... Good news! Our prayers have
been answered. The Central Park alligator has been captured. You know
they had this wild 'gator on the loose in the park, so they called in
this special 'gator hunting team and they found him. Now the 'gator is
locked up in the Bronx Zoo. Since it's New York, the 'gator will be
back out within 24 hours.
