-Caveat Lector- <http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A41269-2001Jun24.html> Fugitive Felon Says Clinton Aid Wasn't Logged By Susan Schmidt Monday, June 25, 2001; Page A06 Hollywood producer Peter Paul, organizer of a gala fundraising event for Hillary Rodham Clinton last summer, said in a lawsuit filed last week that he made more than $2 million in in-kind contributions to benefit Clinton's New York Senate campaign that were never reported. Paul, who was convicted of fraud and drug charges two decades ago, was indicted anew on stock fraud charges in New York earlier this month. In an unsuccessful effort to stave off those charges, he presented his allegations about the Clinton campaign to four U.S. attorney's offices, all of which declined to investigate. Paul is now in Brazil, and prosecutors are seeking his return. The claims were dismissed by officials at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, which reported to the Federal Election Commission on the funds raised at the event. The committee reported an in-kind contribution of $500,000 from Stan Lee Media, an Internet company with which Paul was affiliated. "I believe the staff working on the event got that [figure] from Mr. Paul," said DSCC spokeswoman Torah Ravitz. Paul helped put on a star-studded gala "Tribute to Bill Clinton" in Beverly Hills during the Democratic convention last August, an event that had the dual purpose of raising money for Hillary Clinton's campaign. When the subject of Paul's past felony convictions was raised in the media, the campaign returned a $2,000 donation from him. Paul is being represented in the civil and criminal cases by Clinton nemesis Larry Klayman, chairman of Judicial Watch. Klayman is trying to get the Justice Department to look at canceled checks and other evidence that he says will prove that Paul bankrolled the Aug. 12 gala. The civil suit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against the Clintons, a campaign official and New York Senate 2000, a committee that raised unlimited "soft money" contributions for Senate candidates. Paul was indicted by a Brooklyn grand jury on charges he and three other men conspired to manipulate the price of Stan Lee Media's stock. He served three years in prison for cocaine possession and a scheme to defraud the Cuban government of $8.7 million. - - Prank Web Site Plots Torricelli's Demise As if Sen. Robert G. Torricelli (D-N.J.) doesn't have enough headaches with all those investigators breathing down his neck over allegations that he took cash and gifts in return for doing political favors. Now he's got a prank Web site to deal with as well. The site, www.torricellideathwatch.com, went up late last week and offers visitors a chance to predict the date of a possible Torricelli indictment, the number of counts in said indictment, the date and manner in which Torricelli leaves the Senate and so forth. The no-budget site, the work of a pair of political pranksters with Republican leanings, had some 900 visitors at one point on Friday, many of whom had Internet addresses ending in senate.gov. ======================================================= Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh, YHVH, TZEVAOT FROM THE DESK OF: *Michael Spitzer* <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> The Best Way To Destroy Enemies Is To Change Them To Friends ======================================================= <A HREF="http://www.ctrl.org/">www.ctrl.org</A> DECLARATION & DISCLAIMER ========== CTRL is a discussion & informational exchange list.
