Back in 1987 was a lot of flack about this pledge and I sent to Library
of Congress for information on this Bellamy and the Pledge.
It seems he or the son had worked on of all things, Ballistic Missiles.
Strange one would salute a flag and forget the Constitution for this
document sits first above the flag?
The very word allegiance is to be in support of a state, a cause or
ruler by his "subjects", etc.
Then we have the 21 gun salute and the worst story I heard that year
when they gave Clinton the salute, they were such poor marksmen they
missed?
Now I imagine another Bellamy will come along and write a Pledge for the
flag of the United Nations - wonder how they start their order of
allegiance and to whom do the owe their loyalty - to the Zulu Nations?
