Is it not profit, not capitalism, that is the culprit?
Capitalism requires a profit, which requires some inflation and
unemployment, but not too much, which requires the federal reserve system
(or another central bank) to control interest rates. Interest is only needed
to facilitate the profit, which begins the circle again. And why?
So people who cannot come to terms with their mortality can build up
(perceived) wealth which they will surrender on the day they die (or sooner,
if their children can manage it).
All of the above requires a belief in scarcity, which in the natural world
is an impossibility. It must be created in the mind of homo sapiens.
Fortunately there are homo sapiens on Earth who know scarcity does not
exist. They live in the Andes Mountains or the rain forests and know not of
capitalism or profits.
