-Caveat Lector- Subj: John Fund, Gary Condit and Moral Hypocrisy: A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL COMMENTARY Date: 9/9/01 1:09:43 AM Central Daylight Time From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (BuzzFlash.com) A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL COMMENTARY September 9, 2001 We recently posted a link to a site that details the alleged moral debauchery of John Fund. We can't independently verify that Fund slept with a woman, then lured her daughter into his bed, then didn't object when the daughter had an abortion, then returned to sleeping with the mom...Well you got the picture. It's the kind of kinky allegation that the Republicans and the Republican controlled television media have been unceasingly attacking Gary Condit for. Although thus far, no one's pinned a mother-daughter (plus abortion) triangle on Condit. And they couldn't even squeeze that on the right wing list of Clinton attack message points. (Although Jerry Falwell and his ilk desperately and pathetically tried to link Bill to a murder or two.) (You can read more about the lurid details of the alleged John Fund behavior at http://www.americanpolitics.com/20010905BakerFund.html) Of course, you won't hear much about the John Fund allegations on the mainstream media, because he's one of the hard right Republican jihad journalists. Fund was a key figure in the Wall Street Journal's unceasing scurrilous, bizarre attacks on Clinton during his administration. Fund specialized in the self-righteous, moral scold editorial and commentary, the almost sure sign of some moral depravity by a right wing scribe. During the impeachment initiative, Ken Starr "leaks" made their way into the high decibel Wall Street Journal attack dog editorials that attempted to bring down a duly elected president of the United States. It increasingly seems that the more vehement and venomous the attack on Democratic morality, the more likely that the Republican accuser is hiding some kinky "immoral" acts of his or her own. If these accusations against Fund prove to be true, and his accuser has him on tape, as they say, then it is just further confirmation that the right wing GOP isn't called the Grand Hypocrisy Party (GHP) for nothing. Of course, you won't be hearing about Mr. Fund's alleged mother-daughter sexual acrobatics, combined with an abortion, anytime soon. He benefits from the double standard applied to Republicans by the media. If Republicans sin, they have the chance for redemption. If Democrats sin, it is a sign of their evil, or fall from God's grace. That's some double standard alright. Except, it is totally unfair, biased, disingenuous, hypocritical and inexcusable. The media should be ashamed of its double standard, but shame is in as short supply among television journalists as mercy is for condemned prisoners in Bush's heart. Well, in case you were curious about Fund's recent moral lambaste against a Democrat, we are providing this link to one of his recent Wall Street Journal commentaries. It appears that Fund is still plugging away at the WSJ, denouncing the "immoral" acts of Democrats. (see: http://www.opinionjournal.com/diary/) "Mr. Condit was trying to emulate the master of political slipperiness--Bill Clinton," Fund writes in his umpteenth million obsessive and slanderous attack on the former president. "The former president's success at surviving the Lewinsky scandal by simply exhausting the American public until they were ready to "move on," provided a political roadmap for Gary Condit. The problem is that like a bad Elvis impersonator, Gary Condit knows all the Clinton lines, but he can't carry the tune." And what is the tune Mr. Fund is singing, we might ask, if he indeed seduced a former lover's daughter and then didn't object to her having an abortion of his child? If Mr. Fund wants to deny the charges leveled against him, we offer Fund a platform right here at BuzzFlash.com to refute the taped conversation of Morgan Pillsbury, the 27-year-old daughter of his alleged lover, the daughter he allegedly seduced and impregnated. John, BuzzFlash.com will provide you with a space to rebut the charges if they are false, and we won't edit a word. Of course, if you take up us on it, Mr. Fund, we reserve the right to add our own commentary as an afterword. We can't independently confirm or refute the charges, but you can. Come on, John, BuzzFlash readers are waiting to hear your side of the story. You know where to find us. Afternote: BuzzFlash.com readers might recall that not too long ago, the Wall Street Journal Editorial page called BuzzFlash.com "the most dimwitted and shrillest political site on the web." (see: http://opinionjournal.com/best/?id=95000872) We received hundreds of e-mails telling us to consider the trashing by the Wall Street Journal as a badge of honor. We do. (Oh, and they also called BuzzFlash.com "a chuckle-headed left wing site." Heck, if telling the truth means we're leftwing, that's alright with us. It's better than being a moral hypocrite, which means you go to the right wing websites for lies that provide solace to your inner delusions.)
