Israeli Lobby Planted Phony Story About Palestinian "Celebration" AP Deliberately Ran 1991 News Reels To "Prove" Palestinians Were Celebrating The Attack 9/15/01 5:50:51 PM LSN Staff Jenin, Occupied Palestine -- The American-Israeli Political Action Committee was the source that planted a phony news story in the media claiming Palestinians had taken to the streets in large numbers to celebrate the attack on the United States, and the Associated Press, lacking real footage of the event, misrepresented news footage shot in 1991 as being real footage of the events falsely claimed in the AIPAC press release. According to sources who receive the AIPAC press release, it was accompanied with a photograph of a Palestinian celebrating that AIPAC represented as being an ongoing celebration, but in reality was a file photograph AIPAC had acquired several years ago. Major news sources, figuring that a Zionist group would of course *never* lie to them, because Zionists *never* lie, immediatey manufactured footage to depict the events AIPAC claimed. Alexander Cockburn, editor of Counterpunch, in a bulletin issued by Counterpunch, made the following statement: "Marcio A.V. Carvalho of the state university of Campinas in Brazil has reported that he and his colleagues had compared this tape with one from 1991 showing Palestinian cheering, and found them to be identical." LSN reporters who tried to contact the AP were told that they had been "ordered not to comment on allegations surrounding the videotape". LSN sources within CNN made similar comments. |
