Our philanthropical organizations are very capable of slipping all this donated cash into their coffers and saying "Thank You." It may well take a senator's influence to get them to relinquish a dime. The blood banks took in the gallons of blood donated by everybody who could give it and sat back with a satisfied expression. It would have been wonderful if there had been enough survivors to have used a tenth of it, but of course there were very few. Procedures for getting blood will not change because of the generous effort of a lot of Americans. I'm afraid that procedures for getting money donated with widows and orphans in mind will not get any easier either. This is no time for the people involved with this horror to tell their senators and congressmen they don't want them around. They may well need their help desparately. It may not be pleasant. The thought of having to approach my own Senator Rick Santorum affords me near nausea, but if he was the only channel, I guess he would be the one I would have to see.
