Ostensibly the story is that they feel that the elderly and chronically ill are more susceptible to complications from the flu, and so they are pushed to get flu shots supposedly to stop from getting the flu... But the point of the story I heard on TV this morning is that this is the first year that there is enough vaccine for everyone, so that ALL of the general public should get a flu shot, not just the population who in the past had been encouraged to get one... So that is what I found interesting, that the propaganda was pushing John and Jane Q. to get a shot this year, with the emphasis being that there was no reason not to this year because this is the first year that there is enough flu vaccine to go around for THE WHOLE POPULATION; considering that in all prior years we were told there were shortages, and that the decision on how much vaccine to create is made at least 9 months before, I find it curious that the decision was made earlier this year to create enough vaccine for the whole population... Why not in prior years, since for years we've heard about flu vaccine shortages....
