You're right Steve, I don't commute over any
suspension
bridges. If I did, I still think my position would be
that the government should take the proper security
precautions while not making public announcements
about it. These "Alerts" which are put out every few
days are like crying "Wolf! Wolf!" This plays right
into the hands of the "terrorists"...whoever they are.
(I have no confidence that Osama and the Taliban are
the ones behind all of this).
Another thing: Those bridges are very tough targets.
Just ask pilots who have been on mission to knock
out bridges during wartime. It would take very
substantial explosives...and properly placed to
bring down the Golden Gate. Getting that done
would take a while and would be very difficult to
conceal....especially with hightened security.
