I have to ask a question. I say that up front because you're not
going to find any juicy pieces of news in this post, so if you're not
interested in my question, now's the time to hit the delete key or
move on to the next post. It's probably a stupid question, but I
have to ask it anyway.
What would it take to move this story--or at the very least the
questions of ACCOUNTABILITY the emperors-clothes' story
points toward--out of mere "cyberworld" circulation and into that
collective attention manipulated by the mainstream media? (Qui
Bono?)
Looks to me like the "lid" is screwed down tight and any
journalist or news outlet with any reach or influence that began to
ask these important questions and call for an investigation
would likely get hit (in one form or another...anthrax
anyone?...nah, perhaps that's pass� now). Unless, of course,
said journalist or news worthy organization was "protected"
somehow? (Qui Bono?)
It's also occurred to me that EVEN IF significant numbers of
citizens began to ask, how shall we say, "intelligence" questions,
all it would take is another, eh-hem, "TERRORIST ATTACK"
(probably of greater magnitude than what we've seen) to shock
the masses back into line. It does seem that these EVENTS
have an "odd" way of happening at the most "opportune" time to
deflect the public attention, doesn't it? (Whoever controls your
attention controls you.)
What I'm asking is, how does one "attract" (much less "rivet") the
collective attention and nudge it in a direction that we, of all
people, know will be RESISTED by forces overt, covert, external
and internal (I view denial as a genuine force)? Again, I'm asking
the question regarding ACCOUNTABILITY (not necessarily
*complicity*, you understand--cornering a beast is generally ill
advised). I'm asking, are there routes WITHIN THE SYSTEM to
which we have access (very broadly defined, and perhaps
defined anew in our age) which could begin to 'effect' the various
forces that are currently in play on the national and international
stage?
In asking this question, I also realize that I am posing to this list
a "meta" question: Is this list ONLY a forum where news and
research are shared among thoughtful individuals? Or, put quite
another way, WHAT ROLE, if any, does this exchange of
information have WITHIN THE LARGER MOVEMENT of forces?
Having now asked my question (which turned out to be two
questions) I'm going to do something that may baffle those of
you who have bothered to read this far. Oddly enough, the
reason I'm doing it is because I've read the signature with the
Ken Kesey quote several times now and it's started to sink in.
You know the one where Kesey tells Ginsberg: "You can't expect
politicians to come up with a vision, they don't have it in them.
Poets have to come up with the vision and they have to turn it on
so it sparks and catches hold." Being an artist type (I'm sure as
hell NOT a journalist, I wouldn't know "fact" if it killed me--and I'm
sure one of these days one of them will) it just began to occur to
me that WE might, in some very strange, perplexing and
mysterious way, have the HIGH GROUND in this situation. At
least potentially so. Thus I quote you from the King James
version, 1st Corinthians, 2nd Chapter:
And I brethren, when I came to you, came
not with excellency of speech or of wisdom,
declaring unto you the testimony of God.
For I determined not to know any thing
among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
And I was with you in weakness, and in fear,
and in much trembling.
And my speech and my preaching was not
with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in
demonstrations of the Spirit and of power:
That your faith should not stand in the
wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that
are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor
of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
But we speak the wisdom of God in a
mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God
