This the most difficult thing I've ever had to write; but, having wrestled with the ramifications of not doing so v. the trouble I'm facing currently, I would rather awaken tomorrow humbled and mildly embarrassed at having to compose and distribute this plea, than the obverse--which is to experience defeat and likely suicide.
I find myself today--a prolific and well-trod writer and independent publisher (www.fargonebooks.com) in Bangkok, Thailand, totally bereft of funds and needing medical attention. My fiscal need is not extreme, but it is urgent. Should any among you be in the position to extend even the most modest of donation, I am grateful in extremis, in advance; beyond coming hat in hand, though I have for sale several pieces of intellectual property, which I am taking the liberty of listing below:
Wisdom's Maw: The Acid Novel (Far Gone Books, 1996) [published in an edition of 2,500 copies, Wisdom's Maw "factionalizes," a la Capote's In Cold Blood, events surrounding the CIA's legendary MK-Ultra experiments and their influence on the psychedelic Sixties.] 200 copies remain of the original printing, and all rights (hardback, paperback, film) are for sale.
Hell Bottled Up!: Chronicles of a Late Propaganda Minister (Far Gone Books, 2000) [five of seven chapters of this autobiography are published online, gratis, at www.fargonebooks.com.] A hand-tooled manuscript (computer generated, but gone over by-hand, with extensive, painstaking corrections and revisions), the only one extant, and unpublished chapters are in my possession and are for sale, as are all rights to the work.
Dogshit Park & other atrocities [a collection of black satire; published piecemeal in underground magazines such as Boston's Lollipop, Philadelphia's Carbon 14 and elsewhere.] All rights for sale.
DumpMcCain.com (www.dumpmccain.com) [A Web site devoted to conservative critique of Arizona Senator John McCain; as owner of this domain and architect of its digital construction, such is also for sale.]
I am reminded of the day on which a businessman came to the aid of evangelist Oral Roberts, to rescue the latter's university and ministry. The man did not know Rev. Roberts, admitted, frankly, that he did not even share his beliefs, but was touched or called upon, or felt compelled, to help. Ill and despairing, I share that dark feeling of imminent demise and hope that you might search yourself and consider your own circumstances and capacities, toward the relief of an embattled author and creative spirit.
With apologies and gratitude,
Todd Brendan Fahey [c/o Hello Guest House, Khao San Road, Banglamphu, Bangkok, Thailand 10200; [EMAIL PROTECTED]
