Subject: Codex Alimentarius Commission
Codex Alimentarius meets next week in Berlin to continue their pharmaceutically
backed plan to severely limit sales and potency of vitamins.
You can protest this with one click if you go to:
http://www.vitamins-for-all.org/mainsites/usa/index.html
Codex would like the manufacturer of all vitamins in the hands of
pharmaceutical companies which would limit the potency and raise the
prices of vitamins. Pharmaceutical companies have already been buying
up vitamin companies in a trojan horse attempt to take over the
industry.

What are the aims of the Codex Alimentarius Commission?
Constructed by the pharmaceutical industry, the Codex Alimentarius Commission
is a self-proclaimed expert organization that has allied with the World Health
Organization (WHO) and the World Food Organization (FAO). From the beginning,
this was done with the intention of passing regulations and laws to protect the
global pharmaceutical market.
Of the 30 committees using the title "Codex Alimentarius," those involved with
food supplements and vitamins are of particular interest to the pharmaceutical
industry. The central committee is the "Codex Committee for Nutrition and
Dietetic Foods." A puppet of the pharmaceutical industry, this committee has
only been concerned with one topic since the middle of the 1990's: how to
prevent vitamins and other food supplements from causing the collapse of the
markets for beta blockers, calcium antagonists, cholesterol lowering products
and other widely superfluous pharmaceutical preparations.
By far, Germany is the biggest exporter of these dubious pharmaceutical
products, and nowhere else in the world exists such a bond between the
pharmaceutical industry and politics. Therefore it is no surprise that the
Government of the German Federal Republic is in charge of this committee
benefitting the pharmaceutical cartel.
The aims of the Codex Alimentarius are clearly defined: Statements on the
curative effects of vitamins and other natural remedies will be banned and made
a punishable offense. In the future, the distinction between a foodstuff and a
medicine will be made by the pharmaceutical industry itself and not by
governments.
Using this new legislative edict, the pharmaceutical industry will extend its
own markets as it sees fit. At present, the pharmaceutical industry has
succeeded in classifying 500 milligrams of vitamin C in pill form as a
medication and requiring a prescription in Germany. If the pharmaceutical
industry had its way, 100 mg or even 50 mg vitamin C would be classified as
medication.
The pharmaceutical industry knows that most people have no understandings of
these restrictions and has disguised them with legal jargon.
The strategic aims of "Codex Alimentarius"
1. The distribution of health information concerning
vitamins, amino acids, minerals and other natural
products for the prevention and treatment of diseases
will be banned globally.
2. The sale of vitamins and other natural products which
exceed the guidelines of this Codex commission
(which are arbitrary and far too low) will be prohibited
globally.
3. Countries that fail to apply these laws will be punished
by international economic sanctions.
To mask its actual intention of protecting the world market of superfluous
pharmaceutical preparations, those responsible for Codex have invented
exculpatory statements:
Thus the Codex Alimentarius conference will occur at the "Federal Office for
Health-related Consumer Protection" in Berlin in June of 2000. In addition to
the "consumer protection" from alleged "harmful side effects" of vitamins, a
need for united international administration of the pharmaceutical industry was
indicated.
The fact that the pharmaceutical industry believes that this disguised
justification will be unaccepted is clearly evident since Codex plans to punish
all those who oppose its plans with economic sanctions by the UN.
Our response: Talk to as many people as possible about these irresponsible
plans and let the members of the Codex commission and their delegates know what
you think.
As the graphic below shows, the pharmaceutical industry is one of the most
lucrative industries today. Profits exceeded 500% in only 10 years. The greed
of the majority holders of the pharmaceutical groups fuels the unethical Codex
plans.

Basis of the pharmaceutical industry:
The "business with the disease"
The pharmaceutical industry bases its existence on the "business with
the disease." As with other segments of the economy, the pharmaceutical
industry wants to expand its market - patients as well as disease.
The prevention, treatment and eradication of diseases are bad for the
pharmaceutical industry and thus must be attacked.
As a direct result, the ills of civilization, such as heart and
circulatory diseases, high blood pressure, cardiac insufficiency, cancer,
osteoporosis and others are spreading.
According to statements of German health insurance companies, 24,000
useless pharmaceutical preparations are on the market. (AOK magazine 4/98)
The dangerous side effects of prescription drugs are now the fourth
most
common cause of death. (American Medical Journal of the American Medical
Association dated April 15, 1998
How does the Codex Alimentarius Commission work?
The Codex Commission for Nutrition and Dietetic Foods meets every two years.
Since the Government of the German Federal Republic is in charge of this
committee, these meetings usually occur on German soil. In 1996, the meeting
took place in Bonn, in 1998 in Berlin. The next meeting will take place in
Germany as well, at the Federal Office for Health-Related Consumer Protection
(BgVV) in Berlin-Marienfelde, Diedersdorfer Weg 1, on June 19-23, 2000.
The Codex procedure to establish resolutions takes eight steps - starting with
the deliberation stage to the recommendation stage to the decision stage.
Because of a massive protest in October 1998, we stopped the Codex meeting at
stage four.
At present, the pharmaceutical cartel prepares to execute the final four stages
in one step during the next meeting. This would mean that the Codex conference
of June 2000 will recommend that all member nations confirm the vitamin censure
laws.
Examining the composition of this Codex commission explains how such nefarious
plans can spawn in a panel of the United Nations.
More than half of all Codex members receive money from the pharmaceutical
industry. If you now add those politicians who depend on salaries or bribes
from the pharmaceutical industry, the imbalance becomes clear: more than three
quarters of the Codex Alimentarius members represent the interests of the
pharmaceutical industry.
To grant superficial ligitimacy to the proceedings, the pharmaceutical groups
include "Consumer Protection" organizations, which have been created by the
pharmaceutical companies themselves, into the Codex commission. The best-known
example is the German Association for Nutrition (DGE).
The governments of smaller European countries and developing nations face
economic blackmail from the international pharmaceutical groups. Only months
after the Swiss group Novartis (formerly Sandoz and Ciba Geigy) moved its head
quarters to Norway, the Norwegian government supported the Codex plans. Where
subsidiaries of multi-national pharmaceutical groups settle depends largely on
a government's attitude toward certain policies within the framework of the UNO
- i.e. "Codex".
Who Is Behind The Codex Alimentarius?
Multi-national pharmaceutical groups founded and maintain the Codex
Alimentarius Commission. In many places, the pharmaceutical industry still
maintains the image of the benevolent humanitarians; however, the following
realistic picture of this business prevails:
The pharmaceutical industry differs from most commercial enterprizes. If they
do their jobs and produce the drugs that will make people well, then they have
no customers and ultimately face dissolution. From its inception, the
pharmaceutical industry was created as an investment industry. In America, the
Rockefeller group, looking for new investment opportunities for their billions
made in the oil industry (Esso Group), promoted the pharmaceutical groups. In
Europe, BASF, Bayer and Hoechst combined to create the foundation for the
industry.
With the discovery of vitamins and the deciphering of their chemical structures
at the beginning of the last century, the natural medicines should have been
the clear path to combat most ills of civilization. From the beginning, the
strategic aim of the architects of the pharmaceutical industry was to
discourage natural remedies with all means necessary.
The Codex Alimentarius Commission is only the last and most brutal form with
which these financiers of the "business with the disease" are determined to
defend their sinecure. No sinister dark men stand behind the unethical plans of
the "Codex Alimentarius" commission, but unscrupulous shareholders and
investors of the pharmaceutical industry bank on it.
Since the beginning of the 20th century, the pharmaceutical industry has
dominated the economic and political culture of Germany. Every German
chancellor has prostrated himself before the German pharmaceutical cartel.
The pharmaceutical/chemical firm IG Farbenindustrie was the largest sponsor
that provided aid and sustenance to Hitler's power grab. In 1946, the Nuremberg
War Crimes Tribunal concluded that World War II would not have been possible
without IG Farben, and the Tribunal broke the IG Farben trust into its
present-day successors: BASF, Bayer, and Hoechst.
Also after World War II, the chemical and pharmaceutical industries
systematically groomed politicians for the highest offices of government. Thus,
BASF was Helmut Kohl's first employer, and from 1959-69, Kohl was a full-time
lobbyist for the industry. For 25 years as chairman of the CDU party and 16
years as Chancellor of Germany, Helmut Kohl served his patrons well.
