I expect another attack, says New York's mayor Outgoing mayor of New York Rudolph Giuliani says he expects another terrorist attack on the city. He also fears it will never be known how many people perished in the suicide airliner hijacking attacks on the World Trade Centre on September 11. "I anticipate another attack, and try as much as I can to figure out what it would be, where it would be, are we prepared for it, are we doing all the things that we can to prepare for it?" Mr Giuliani told the BBC. In the interview, billed as the first he had given to Britain, Mr Giuliani also set out his hopes for a memorial to those who died in the World Trade Centre. It had to be something interactive which would commemorate the dead and serve as a testament to the evil of terrorism - but above all was a "searing, beautiful memorial". Although the death toll was now about 3,000, he added: "Are there people that we don't have records of? "Yes, sure, there have to be, the numbers were that large." |
