By Khalid Amayreh Occupied Jerusalem: 26 December, 2001 (IAP News) A 55-year-old Palestinian man was killed and six others were wounded, including a seventy-year-old man, Wednesday afternoon when Israeli helicopter gunships strafed residential neighborhoods in Jenin, in the northern West Bank, with machinegun fire. Hospital sources said Amin Sa'adi was killed while sitting with his family inside their home at the Almaniya neighborhood of Jenin. Earlier, the Israeli army said that "terrorists" barricaded themselves inside the home and that an armed clash with them ensued. Israel labels all forms of Palestinian resistance against her decades-old military occupation as "terror" and Palestinian resistance fighters as "terrorists." The PA radio described Israeli reports on the incident as "concocted." "This is an area where the PA has full security responsibility. The occupation army was attacking a residential home with men, women and children. The home and its occupants posed no threat to the occupation army," a local PA officer was quoted as saying. In the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation army strafed residential neighborhoods in Rafah and Khan Younis with heavy machinegun fire. Hospital sources said a 7-year-old Rafah child named Maliha Qweder was seriously injured when a bullet hit her in the head while she was playing in the backyard of her home. Hundreds of Palestinian children were killed and maimed in Israeli army bombardment of Palestinian population centers since the Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation and apartheid started nearly 15 months ago.
