Jailed writer to be set free
Vanessa Leggett was jailed for refusing to turn over notes she was
collecting for a book on a high profile Houston murder investigation.

Leggett has been in custody since July 20th on contempt charges.
She's refused to surrender her notes to a federal grand jury that's
been investigating millionaire Houston bookmaker Robert Angleton. The
case involves the 1997 shooting death of his wife, Doris.
Angleton was acquitted in 1998 in state court on charges of hiring
his brother, Roger, to kill his wife. Roger Angleton killed himself
in jail -- leaving behind a note exonerating his brother.
Defense attorney Mike DeGeurin says Leggett is set to be freed
because the grand jury has ended its investigation into the Angleton
case.
The US Attorney's Office also confirms Leggett will be released
tomorrow.
Officials had no comment on whether the government will convene
another grand jury in the case.
