Falmouth is out on Cape Cod; the 2 hijacked airliners were in the Albany, NY area at the time, only a few minutes away from their target... There are AFBs at Andover, Massachusetts (in the Springfield area) and in the Poughkeepsie, NY area...both bases are much nearer to where the hijacked planes were at the time the fighters were scrambled, so one has to wonder why the Falmouth AFB was the one designated to intercept, a decision almost guaranteed to result in the failure of the fighters to intercept the hijacked airliners in time...
