Zionist, as I understand it, applies to those who seek to reclaim an
historical geographical entity relating to religious myth and legend,
specifically as relates to the Holey Land. Although the Judahists
are chiefly associated with this movement, one only has to look in
the 'phone book to see how many Nazarites apply the term "zion" to
their churches to see that other religious perspectives have adopted
the concept.

This is much like the Renaissance Festivals that occur in various
parts of the U.S., allowing the participants to venture back in time,
to a time when things were much simpler, happier and naturaler.
These festivals are based in large part on other written mythe and
legends from a bygone era. Unfortunately, the festivals recreate an
era that did not occur in the U.S. and perhaps nowhere else. Anyway,
it remains creative anachronism.

The connexion between the two - Z & RF - is a lot of creative effort
goes into trying to pull the past into the present or pushing the
present into the past. Hence, conflict.

The difference between Palestine and Israel is the same as that
between 1947 and 1949; in the case of the former, Palestine was the
geographical designator and in the latter, Israel had been borned.

The interesting thing is whether or not those who are there now are
actually the descendents of the original inhabitants. Thoughts along
the lines of emigration and diaspora with a circuitous route back to
the Holey Land conflict with thoughts of peoples indigenous to OTHER
areas having been converted and then using an adopted book's mythe
and legends to justify a "return" to a place from which they never
left because they were never there in the first place.

I'm in the middle of all of this, trying to explore all of the
issues, getting a feel for what's what and who's who. The news just
don't cut it (except for those who want the quasi-official line).
