The book was about the Franklin Credit Union scandal and what that investigation revealed. If it had been a book about the entire S & L fiasco, your criticism might be valid, but it wasn't. It was a focused investigation in which DeCamp played a role. In his Introduction he states, "I will describe events in which I was personally involved." In the book he does not fail to make many connections between the Franklin case, Reagan, Bush & the Republican Party. If the book focuses largely on pedophilia it is because that was a major issue exposed by key witnesses in the investigation. You rail that it was not about the White House, drug trafficking, intel and the mob, apparently not knowing that pedophilia, kiddie porn and child-slave- trading are intertwined with same. This book is a snapshot. By extrapolation (and direct and indirect evidence) one can see the broader context taking shape. Many books are focused snapshots. That's why people read a LOT of them in order to sniff out the Big Picture. Get it?
