Dear Colleagues,

Narco News, your project in Authentic Journalism about the "war on drugs" in
Latin America, now has a South American bureau in the Andes.

Today, it is my distinct pleasure to introduce you to Luis Gmez, the
outstanding and experienced journalist who will direct your new bureau out
of La Paz, Bolivia, and report the news from Colombia, Peru, Ecuador,
Bolivia and the rest of South America.

You can read our introduction of Luis Gmez -- with his email address so
that you can communicate with him directly -- today at:

http://www.narconews.com/

We begin with an interview that Luis and I recently conducted with Felipe
Quispe, "El Mallku," social fighter and indigenous leader, in La Paz, on
"Indigenous Autonomy and Coca."

Luis is now working on a report, to be published later this week, on the
sweeping drug policy reforms underway in the continent's largest nation,
Brazil, as well as other investigations that we announce in today's
introduction of your new bureau chief.

Today marks a new era for Narco News. With our press freedom rights restored
by the New York Supreme Court, our headquarters will continue to report from
Mexico, now joined with our Andean Bureau in La Paz.

Today also marks a vastly expanded Spanish-language section of Narco News,
and the announcement of the Narco News Agency to syndicate our reports
throughout the Spanish and English language worlds.

On behalf of The Narco News Bulletin, I welcome Luis Gmez to the team, and
urge you to open your arms (and information sources) to him as you have done
with me, as we escalate this project in Authentic Citizen-Journalism and
march toward victory.

from somewhere in a country called Amrica,

Al Giordano
