Indeed, the book has captured the attention of many Americans who have suspected all along that the network news shows they watch have a clear leftist slant. Mr. Goldberg, while recently appearing on my "Listen America" television broadcast, told me that network news figures live in their own little worlds where liberalism reigns supreme. They have absolutely no understanding of the ideals and values of Americans outside of the broadcast havens of New York City, Washington and Los Angeles. This is why many Americans are left scratching their heads when network reports assume that everyone watching maintains similar attitudes about homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle, the sacredness of abortion rights, the assumption that we somehow evolved from apes, and other typically leftist doctrines. Therefore, it's little wonder that, when conservatives publish books, many Americans are hungry for the unique information within. Conservatives certainly aren't often exposed to ideals that reflect our values in mainstream media reports. In recent days, five books of a conservative bent have appeared on the Times' Best Seller List. They include Mr. Goldberg's book, the late Barbara Olsen's "The Final Days," Bill O'Reilly's "The No Spin Zone," Peggy Noonan's "When Character Was King," and Patrick Buchanan's "The Death of the West." The appetite for non-conventional information also explains the rapid rise in popularity of alternative news sources on the Internet. WorldNetDaily.com is providing a critically-needed arm of enlightenment to Americans who seek information outside the conventional bias at the networks. This site serves as an oasis of intelligence amid the wasteland of one-sided reporting at the networks. People who read my National Liberty Journal newspaper frequently tell me they would have no idea of the continual stream of religious freedom violations in our nation if they did not read this publication. That's because the American Civil Liberties Union – the group that frequently brings these cases that persecute people of faith – is typically portrayed in the mainstream press as an urgently-needed organization that fights for the rights of the downtrodden. The fact is when students opt to pray before meals at a state-funded college, the ACLU brings suit. When high-school students desire to offer a simple prayer of thanks at their graduation or before a football game, the ACLU attempts to stop them. When a community wishes to erect a plaque honoring the Ten Commandments on public ground, the ACLU screams foul. Nevertheless, the ACLU remains a sacred cow of the mainstream media. In addition, the networks typically interview a spokeswoman from the National Organization for Women when broadcasting a story on women's rights. However, leaders from the conservative Concerned Women for America are not featured nearly as often. The reason is that NOW's official priorities – championing abortion rights and promoting pro-homosexual efforts – typically fall in line with the views of those in the mainstream media. Most clear-thinking Americans can easily see that the media playing field is far from level and that a specific agenda has become more important to network execs than simply reporting the news. These network officials apparently don't think Americans are bright enough to hear the undistorted facts and make up their own minds. Or maybe they're afraid Americans will hear the facts and subsequently forsake the divine tenets of liberalism. I thank God that the voices of conservative and neo-conservative theorists like Bernard Goldberg, Barbara Olsen, Bill O'Reilly, Peggy Noonan, Patrick Buchanan and many others are now impacting millions of Americans who are fed up by the attempted indoctrination of our nation by the mainstream media. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Rev.
