The greatest danger to America is the institution of vicarious
living. Europe, Africa, Asia, and the rest of the world exist for
many if not most as pages in an atlas, much like the maps in
*Treasure Island* or in some fantasy book like *The Hobbit*. How
many people get up off their fat American asses and actually get on
an airplane to visit all these make-believe lands and learn what
makes them tick? The idea is to leave the living up to the diplomats
and the military and have them NOT go "over there" to act in their
primary capacity -- that of being ambassadors (anyone with old-time
military experience knows what this means) -- but to be conquerors.
The only thing people "over there" learn anymore is how the Americans
are there to kick ass and take names.

This is most blatantly shown by that Major wench in Saudi Arabia who
is suing over the "burka" because it offends her supposed "Christian"
feelings. Duh! She shoulda been there before they improved the
place. She shoulda been "over there" before they had hot showers and
air conditioning. And I don't even know how long her tour is (should
find out). I'll bet she's never flown for very long on a propeller-
driven aerospace vehicle or had to go shopping when the only air
conditioning was at the frozen food section ( IN THE UNITED STATES) .

When the Americans take a first-hand view of who and how people are
in other parts of the world (and just don't leave it up to the
media), some things will change. That Americans at the WEF feel
somewhat embarrassed at what they have compared to what others have
may be a first step. This is not to say that the United States has
anything to apologise for (besides Bush then Clinton (and now Bushie)
and the bombings of sovereign nations); nor do the other countries.
