Campo - A standoff between U.S. Border Patrol agents and a group of heavily armed men north of the border ended peacefully this past weekend. Border Patrol officials said around 8 pm. Saturday an agent found fresh footprints in an area seven miles east of Tecate, on the U.S. side of the U.S.-Mexico border. He tracked the prints to a group of four armed men in camouflage who accounced they were Mexican military agents on a counter drug-smuggling mission. A spokesman for the Border Patrol said the men were cooperative and taken to the Border Patrol station, where their status was confirmed with their military unit commander and the Mexican Consulate.
