Islamabad - Pakistan has been able to somewhat
convince US authorities that Indian intelligence
agencies had a direct role in the kidnapping of the
Wall Street Journalist Daniel Pearl and that he
himself had some shady contacts within intelligence
agencies hostile to Pakistan.

Diplomatic sources privy to the development said that
Pakistan had informed the Central Intelligence Agency
chief George Tenent last week that the reporter had
become too obtrusive and had crossed lines with
really dangerous actors in the game.

Pakistani intelligence agencies since the abduction
of Daniel Pearl have been tracing different links of
the journalist in an effort to resolve the case.

They now believe that he definitely had links with
the Indian and Israeli intelligence agencies and he
had become a willing target initially.

However as the things got hot and his kidnappers
assessed that a dead Pearl will be of much use to
malign Pakistan they eliminated him.

CIA chief was told by Pakistani authorities that how
Daniel Pearl had been in contact with Indian
intelligence officers even during his stay in
Pakistan.

And after his kidnapping his wife and colleague Asra
had also beeen in touch with an Indian cabinet
minister.

Pakistani officials are believed to have presented
list to the US intelligence agencies of telephone
calls made by Daniel, his wife and his colleague.

Similarly Pakistani authorities have also been able
to get access to Daniel's other contact lists.

Pakistani intelligence agencies have also provided
evidence to US intelligence that the militant
organizations had been infiltrated by hostile country
intelligence outfits and had created many problems in
Pakistan.
