Firearms Refresher Course

A friend sent me something the other day that I just couldn't help but read over and
over. This short e- mail was called a Firearms Refresher Course. So I am going to
share with you some of the one's I likes the best.
1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
2. Smith & Wesson: The original point and click interface.
3. Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.
4. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.
5. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.
6. If you don't know your rights you don't have any.
7. Those who trade liberty for security have neither.
8. What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand?
9. The Second Amendment is in place in case they ignore the others.
10. 64,999,987 firearms owners killed no one yesterday.
11. Guns only have two enemies: Rust and Politicians.
12. Know guns, know peace and safety. No guns, no peace and safety.
13. You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.
14. Assault is a behavior, not a device.
15. Criminals love gun control - it makes their jobs safer.
16. If Guns cause Crimes, then Matches cause Arson.
17. Only a government that is afraid of it's citizens try to control them.
18. You only have the rights you a willing to fight for.
19. The American Revolution would never have happened with Gun Control.
20. "...a government by the people, for the people..."
In these twenty one-liners, our future and our past are summed up in very
understandable words. You can try and tell people they will be safer without firearms
all you want but the real truth keeps coming back at us each and every day. The
people of this great Republic of ours saw it in living color on September 11, 2001.
Anyone who doesn't stand up and support our Constitution and the rights that it gives
us is a traitor and no better than our enemies who would destroy the very foundation
of this great nation.
You can be compassionate and still be strong. I spent thirty years of my life in law
enforcement in my home county and proved over and over that a person can be
both. We must treat all people with respect and hold them accountable for their
mistakes. Like the old saying goes, "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime."
Now we are being told that we must give up more of our freedom to be safe in
America. This is the biggest lie of all. If we allow those honest citizens among us to
exercise their right to bear arms, then we wouldn't have lost those three planes that
hit the buildings. The people on the last plane who took control away from the
highjackers would also possibly have made it out alive had they been armed. We will
never know. Their acts of selfless heroism will always be the American way, so let
them go armed.
Even our Medical profession is attempting to take our gun right. Not all the
physicians are after your gun right, however the American Medical Association
(AMA) took the stance this last month that physicians should ask their patience if
they owned firearms so that they can build a data base. I am told there are 700,000
physicians in America. There are 80,000,000 plus gun owners in America.
Physicians accidentally kill 120,000 people each year. There are only 1,500
accidental gun deaths in all age groups per year. Looks to me like the AMA should
take better care of training the physicians and worry a lot less about gun owners. As
a side note, not everyone owns a gun, however almost everyone has a Doctor. Look
at the numbers above and tell me which is more dangerous to you and your life. The
real truth is that both physicians and guns save lives each day. This gives them a
value to society because the number of saves is much larger than the number a
accidental deaths.
Common sense needs to return to our society and be reflected in our laws once
more. Those who would remove it from society and give animals right, protect our
forests from harvest, and run us all off the land into the urban areas of America are
the enemies of freedom and need to be stopped. They have no common sense.
They are attempting to take over your life and tell you how to live and act. They are
wrong and must be stopped. History is full of how these same kind of people have
brought down great nations and societies. Do we allow them to do it again and let
history repeat itself? I pray we won't.
God Bless America
Michael E. Cook, Coos County Sheriff, Retired.
