__NY Times Tries to Undercut Flight 93 Shootdown Theory, But It's The Only Theory
Supported by the Evidence
Karl Rove is using the NY Times to hide the truth about September 11, just as the
Times lied for Bush about the Stolen Election. Rove gave the Times the official
transcript of the cockpit voice recorder, along with Rove's official story. The Times
is desperately trying to buttress the passenger-takeover theory, by claiming without
evidence that "hijackers waggled the wings of the plane up and down in an effort to
keep the passengers from moving forward" - which could also be explained by the
plane's engine being shot off by a military jet. The Times also dismisses passenger
Edward Felt's call to 911 reporting smoke and an explosion - also consistent with a
shot-off engine. There is no doubt heroic passengers tried to storm the cockpit, but
even the Times admits the tape offers no evidence they succeeded, or that the
hijackers crashed the plane. Hijackers saying "They're coming" could mean US jets, as
well as passengers. The evidence now points to a military shootdown, not a crash.

__With a Jet Fighter Near, Cheney Ordered Flight 93 Shot Down 3 Times Without
Hesitation
According to the Washington Post, when Bush's plane took off at 9:55 am on 9-11,
Cheney recommended military pilots be authorized to shoot down a civil airliner. "I
said, 'You bet,'" Bush recalled. "We had a little discussion, but not much." "With
Bush's approval, Rumsfeld passed the order down the chain of command. In the White
House bunker, a military aide approached the vice president. 'There is a plane [Flight
93] 80 miles out,' he said. 'There is a fighter in the area. Should we engage?' 'Yes,'
Cheney replied without hesitation... The military aide repeated the question, this
time with even more urgency. The plane was now 60 miles out. 'Should we engage?'
Cheney was asked. 'Yes,' he replied again. As the plane came closer, the aide repeated
the question. Does the order still stand? 'Of course it does,' Cheney snapped. [He]
said later that it had seemed 'painful, but nonetheless clear-cut. And I didn't
agonize over it.'" The Pentagon says it didn't shoot, but who believes them?

__Flight 93 Evidence Mostly Points to Shootdown by Military Jet
At 9:58 a.m. on 9-11, Dick Cheney ordered the military to shoot down Flight 93 three
times, with "a fighter in the area." At 10:06, Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, PA.
Before the crash, ground witnesses heard explosions followed by quiet, and saw the
plane flip. Debris - including human remains and a one-ton engine part - was found as
far as 8 miles from the crash site on a breezeless day. Witnesses also saw an unmarked
white jet flying low nearby. Did a military jet - either an F-16 or a
specially-equipped government plane - shoot off an engine under orders from Dick
Cheney? The Pentagon denies it, and the cockpit tape offers few clues. The truth will
not be known until the government releases the complete results of its investigation,
including the two flight recorders, radar readings, the debris field map, and
passenger phone call records. We demand a Blue Ribbon investigation!

__Was Bush Watching the 'Psychic Network' on the Morning of September 11th?
According to WH transcripts, on 12/04/01and again on 01/05/02, Bush made the following
peculiar claims at two separate Town Hall Q&A sessions. When asked "how he learned of
the terrorist attacks," Bush responded: "I was in Florida. And my chief of staff, Andy
Card, Actually I was in a classroom talking about a reading program that works. I was
sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower,
the TV was obviously on. And I used to fly, myself, and I said, well, there's one
terrible pilot. I said it must have been a horrible accident. But I was whisked off
there, I didn't have much time to think about it. And I was sitting in the classroom,
and Andy Card, my chief of staff, who is sitting over here, walked in and said, A
second plane has hit the tower, America is under attack." One question: How did he
watch the film of the first plane when it was still in Jules Gedeon's camera? What "TV
was obviously on"?

__First Wave of Energy Dept. Documents Shows Bush/Cheney Corruption
The Washington Post reports, "Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham met with 36
representatives of business interests and many campaign contributors while developing
President Bush's energy policy, and he held no meetings with conservation or consumer
groups... A first review of the 11,000 pages of documents bolsters the contention of
Democratic lawmakers and environmental groups that the Bush administration relied
almost exclusively on the advice of executives from utilities and producers of oil,
gas, coal and nuclear energy while a White House task force drafted recommendations
that would vastly increase energy production... Of the corporations that met with
Abraham, all but a few were large contributors of unregulated soft money to the
Republican Party during the 2000 election cycle. A dozen of the companies that had
meetings with Abraham contributed $1.2 million to the GOP, mainly for Bush's
election." Thousands of additional pages were withheld - we demand a Special
Prosecutor!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A16943-2002Mar25.html
__On Monday, the Bush Administration Lied About Spencer Abraham's Contacts with Energy
Executives
"As he helped the Bush administration write its national energy report last year,
Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham heard from more than 100 energy industry executives,
trade association leaders and lobbyists, according to documents released by the Energy
Department. Mr. Abraham did not meet with any representatives of environmental
organizations or consumer groups, the documents show. In a press release on Monday
night, the Energy Department summarized the secretary's calendar by saying that Mr.
Abraham met with 36 industry representatives on task force matters. Most news
organizations reported that figure today. But Mr. Abraham actually met with 109
representatives of energy industry companies and trade associations... 18 [of which]
contributed a total of $16.6 million to the Republican Party since 1999, nearly three
times what they gave to the Democratic Party." So reports the NY Times. We demand ALL
of Cheney's Secret Energy Task Force documents!
http://www.nytimes.com/2002/03/27/business/27ENER.html
__Army Secretary Thomas White Had DOZENS of Conversations with Enron - We Demand a
Special Prosecutor!
Washington Post reporter Ellen Nakashima writes, "Last October, Army Secretary Thomas
E. White, a former Enron Corp. executive, met or phoned former colleagues at the
energy company as many as 13 times prior to his decision to sell more than 200,000
Enron shares at the end of that month, according to information he has provided a
House committee. A letter hand-delivered Friday to the office of Rep. Henry A. Waxman
(D-Calif.), the ranking member on the House Government Reform Committee, lists 44
calls White made from his home to former Enron colleagues since taking office last
May. They do not include calls he may have received on that phone. These calls are in
addition to 29 calls to and meetings with Enron colleagues that White disclosed in
January. Those calls, he specified in the letter Friday, were made or received in his
Pentagon office... One former Enron employee who White called said the FBI has
inquired about the nature of the calls." We demand a Special Prosecutor for Enron!

__F*** You, Paine Webber
Stockbroker "Chung Wu, of PaineWebber's Houston office, sent a message to clients
early on Aug. 21 warning that Enron's 'financial situation is deteriorating' and that
they should 'take some money off the table.' That afternoon, an Enron executive in
charge of its stock option program sent a stern message to PaineWebber executives,
including the Houston branch office manager. 'Please handle this situation,' the newly
released message stated. 'This is extremely disturbing to me.' PaineWebber fired Mr.
Wu less than three hours later. That evening, the firm retracted Mr. Wu's assessment
of Enron's stock then about $36 by sending his clients an optimistic report that
Enron was 'likely heading higher than lower from here on out.' A few months later, the
stock was worthless, and the company was in bankruptcy court." So reports the NY Times.
http://nytimes.com/2002/03/27/business/27ENRO.html
__Bye, Bye, Berardino!
CNN reports, "Joseph Berardino, the leader of Arthur Andersen, stepped down Tuesday, a
casualty of the Justice Department's indictment of his firm in the aftermath of the
Enron Corp. collapse... 'While my nature is to keep fighting to protect our people and
our clients, the fact is that the improper shredding of documents took place on my
watch -- and I believe it is now in the best interests of the firm for me to step down
from the CEO position,' Berardino said... But some think that Berardino's resignation
comes too late for Andersen. One accounting industry source said Berardino should have
left months ago, when the investigation against Andersen was just gearing up." With
Berardino gone, can Paul Volcker prevent Andersen's inevitable collapse? Don't bet on
it...

__David Brock's 'Blinded by the Right' Exposes the Utter Depravity of the Political
Right
"Here is Newt Gingrich, vowing 'to say the word 'Monica' in every speech' even while
'conducting his own illicit affair...' We hear Jack Romanos, the head of Simon &
Schuster, telling Brock, as he signed the million-dollar Hillary book deal... that the
only thing he wanted to know before OK'ing the money was whether Hillary was a
lesbian... We read of George Conway, one of the lawyers who played a crucial role in
pushing Paula Jones's story, admitting that privately he didn't believe Jones's
allegation at all but that her case must be pressed nonetheless because the point was
to force a situation in which Clinton would have to lie under oath about extramarital
sex. We witness Ted Olson, [now] Solicitor General, telling Brock that while he
believed Vince Foster had committed suicide, the Spectator should still run a trashy,
unsourced piece about Foster's 'murder' to keep the pressure on the Administration
until the Spectator could shake loose another 'scandal.'" So writes Mike Tomasky.

__Here's Another Clinton Judicial Nominee Republicans Haven't Apologized For: Michael
Schattman
The Atlanta Journal Constitution's Jay Bookman writes, "If Hatch were sincerely
angered by what happened to Pickering, he would probably be even more outraged to
learn how the Senate treated another judicial nominee, Michael Schattman. Pickering at
least got two committee hearings and a committee vote, all within a year of his
nomination. He may not have liked the final outcome, but he did get the courtesy of a
vote. Schattman, by contrast, waited three long years and never got even a hearing. He
finally withdrew his name when it became clear that those running the Senate Judiciary
Committee would never give him a chance to be considered. The man running the
Judiciary Committee all that time was Orrin Hatch."

__Will Jeb Be Evicted from Florida's Public Housing?
According to the Washington Post, "The Supreme Court ruled today that public housing
authorities around the country may evict tenants because members of their households,
or guests, are using drugs, even if the evicted tenant was unaware of the drug use."
So will Jeb be evicted for Noelle's illegal drug use? If Florida's housing bureaucrats
don't do it, the voters of Florida will!

__FBI Raids Republican Front Group Tied to Grover Norquist
Last week, the FBI raided a Saudi-backed charity called the Safa Trust because of
suspicious transfers. The Trust is a major supporter of the Islamic Institute, "which
was set up to mobilise support for the Republican party. It shares an office in
Washington with the Republican activist Grover Norquist, [who serves on its Board].
The institute, founded in 1999 to win influence in the Republican party, has helped to
arrange meetings between senior Bush officials and Islamic leaders... Its chairman,
Khaled Saffuri, and Mr Norquist cooperated to arrange the meetings... The institute
has also received money from abroad, including $200,000 from Qatar and $55,000 from
Kuwait." Why is this coming out now? Has Ashcroft been holding up this investigation
for political reasons?

__While Wage-Earning Americans Fight and Die, the Unpatriotic Rich Refuse to Pay Taxes
The I.R.S. said that Americans in far greater numbers than it had once thought - 1 to
2 million!! - were evading taxes by secretly depositing money in tax havens like the
Cayman Islands and withdrawing it using credit cards. "These people most believed to
have incomes that would put them among the top 1 percent of taxpayers 'are using
offshore cards to pay for living expenses,' the I.R.S. said, from groceries to cars to
college tuition for their children. Offshore accounts would be of little use to people
whose wages are reported to the I.R.S. by their employers. But entertainers, business
owners, investors and others who control what is reported to the I.R.S. can use
offshore accounts to hide fees, profits, dividends, interest and capital gains." Yet
Bush wants to cut taxes even more for these tax thieves, with encouragement by Grover
Norquist -- the anti-tax warrior for corporations and the wealthy. Where is the
outrage???
http://www.nytimes.com/2002/03/26/business/26TAX.html
__Bush's Anti-Trade Decision on Canadian Lumber Adds $1000 TAX to Every New Home
When Bush says he's for free trade and against taxes, that's a load of bull. "Last
week's move by the Commerce Department to impose tariffs in a range of 20 to 28
percent on softwood lumber from all of Canada except the Maritimes... is a big deal.
About one-third of all the softwood lumber used in this country comes from Canada. The
trade is worth around $6 billion annually. And if the domestic home builders are
correct, the $1,000 or so the higher tariffs will add to the price of an average new
home is enough to price 300,000 American families out of the mortgage market... The
administration is practicing crony capitalism more worthy of Suharto's Indonesia than
the most powerful nation in the world. It is also piling hidden taxes on American
consumers." So writes Tom Oliphant in the Boston Globe.

__Pentagon Wants 'New Rules to Govern What Should Happen in the Case of a Breaking
News Event'
On March 18, a Fox News cameraman who videotaped a traffic stop while standing on
Pentagon property was arrested. The cameraman was handcuffed outside the building
while taping an event that was taking place on a nearby highway. Pentagon security
guards confiscated his tape and ticketed him. A Fox spokeswoman stated, "The
photographer had clearance to be on Pentagon property and all of this could have been
cleared up without the tape being confiscated." In response to accusations of "Big
Brother like conduct," Pentagon spokeswoman Victoria Clarke stated, "We need to figure
out what policies need to be (in place) if news does break out in front of someone."
Perish the thought! Apparently "news" should NEVER "break out" in front of the
American public! Doesn't Bush already have an "Office of Disinformation" assigned to
this task?

__Just as the FBI Closes in on Anthrax Suspect, Bush Official Suddenly Produces
'Swarthy Terrorist' Evidence
Does the Bush administration think we're all idiots? For months, investigators have
worked night and day to close in on the anthrax terrorist. Just days ago, it was
revealed that the perp was one of our own, possibly even with the military or the CIA.
Now, SUDDENLY, an official in the Bush Adm. 'remembers' that a wound on one of the
terrorist's hands looked suspiciously like anthrax - implying the evil swarthy people
did it ALL. Anyone who believes this "instant evidence" probably still believes in the
Tooth Fairy, too.

__Six Months After Sept. 11th, Nuclear Plants Are Still Vulnerable
Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA) released a report pointing out that despite evidence proving
they were targeted by Al Qaeda, our 103 nuclear power plants have made few
countermeasures to ensure their safety. Accusing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of
being just a little too cozy with the industry, Markey noted that underpaid,
undertrained guards and unprotected spent fuel are just a couple of the risk factors
that make us all vulnerable to a disastrous attack on one of these plants. Markey
isn't the first to have noticed these problems. Ever since September 11th, critics
have called for more stringent safety measures at nuclear plants, but Shrub's
administration has blithely ignored them. Makes you wonder how much money the nuclear
industry has donated to Shrub to make him look the other way and put us all at risk of
Chernobyl USA.
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-032602nukes.story
__What's More Important: Tourism or the Potential of Nuclear Meltdown?
Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn (R) is fighting tooth and nail to stop Bush's plan to send
nuclear waste to Yucca mountain. He wants to convene a special session of his
legislature to seek $10 million in emergency funds to run advertisements all over the
country to point out that transporting waste to Nevada poses a danger to everyone, not
just Nevadans. If Guinn can rouse enough people to urge their Senators to vote against
the plan, Congress could kill it. Unfortunately, a Republican State Senator is
throwing a wrench in Guinn's way, fearing the ad campaign will discourage tourism.
Repugnicant Ray Rawson cares a lot more about tourists' dollars than he does the
health and safety of his constituents. Hey Ray, are you too clueless to realize that
nuclear accidents are bad for business?
