Jewish terror suspects may have struck at Arab target before
By ETGAR LEFKOVITS
The five members of an alleged Jewish terror cell
accused of planning an attack outside the A-Tur Arab Girl's School on the Mount of
Olives in late April were likely also behind an earlier bombing at another Arab school
in the city, the State Attorney's Office said yesterday.
Yarden Morag, 25, Shlomo Dvir (Zelliger), 26, and Ofer Gamliel, 43, all from the
settlement of Bat Ayin southwest of Bethlehem, Yosef Ben-Baruch, 22, of Havat
Maon near Hebron area, and far-right activist Noam Federman, 33, of Hebron were
indicted in Jerusalem District Court last week for their role in the thwarted bombing.
They were indicted on charges ranging from attempted murder to weapons
violations.
A Justice Ministry spokesman confirmed last night that the State Attorney's Office
now believes that the five were involved in an earlier attack as well, and said the
indictments may indeed be expanded.
An unknown Jewish group calling itself "The Avengers of the Oppressed" took
responsibility for the March 5 explosion in the courtyard of an Arab boys' school in
the neighborhood of Sur Bahir, in which seven students and a teacher were lightly
wounded.
The court is weighing the state attorney's request to remand all five suspects until
the
conclusion of their trials.
